What's the point in restricting access to the misc when you let all the trolls stay? It just means no chance of good new posters, less traffic and the same old obvious trolls.

No. People have always been able to join by emailing admins and stating that they had been on misc before.

If you go to the forums on incognito mode, you'll see misc is still unlisted.
