If you’re an atheist you have no purpose in live. It’s better if you pass away.

Whether you have religious beliefs or not, meaning to life is what you make it. You have to find meaning. As I mentioned earlier, just because you say you were a Christian, does not make it so. It is not until you act on those beliefs, and you see the results of the actions, do you finally “see the light“.
The nihilist believes that there is no meaning to life and there is no changing that, but that is not correct. If you want to move forward with your life in a positive manner, and not be fearful of death, you have to do some thing that brings meaning to you. Many people find this in helping others, raising children, etc., because this allows your values, principles, and your deeds to live beyond your own life. True happiness is not found in things, they are found in people and doing something productive. It’s creating things, producing things, that ultimately help society
Have you ever noticed that the longer we live, the easier life gets, And the more material wealth we, the more nihilistic society gets?
Jesus said “if you want to follow me, then get rid of all of your earthly things and follow.” The less we have to lose, it would seem to me, the more meaningful life gets, the less fearful death we become, in the more we actually get to live our lives. Materialism is a death sentence for the living

Curious what these “facts” are.

It really is. Whenever I go down deep the rabbit hole on this, it gets nihilistic as fk.
Science provides facts but not values and therefore there is no value hierarchy to live by.
And people look at this issue only at a surface level thinking they’re good because they’re secular and good. Newsflash, you don’t exist by yourself, everything you are and that you do is influenced by your friends, family, societal standards, laws etc. And at its core, we have Judea-Christian foundation as a society and it influences everything that we are, whether we acknowledge it or not.
Even when religion is wiped out, we won’t know the consequences of that until hundreds of years later when all remnants of those beliefs/values passed down has eventually disappeared. You are seeing some of it now with the increased degeneracy though.
You would be hard-pressed to find any society that ever existed that was secular for a significant amount of time.
People confuse the purpose of religion to be an answer for questions they don’t know and therefore we don’t need it now cos science. That’s how religion is sold but it’s actual function is to create a universal value system within the society. If you don’t have a universal value system, then the individual gets to create their own value system and if you have 1 million people, all with their own value systems, well, you know what happens when even just 2 value systems collide (muslims-Christians).
And value systems have always been told via stories. Always. That’s where mythology and the hero’s journey comes from. There’s a pattern to stories which evolve with society, but it’s not by accident, the stories are part of our evolution, much like our biological evolution, the stories are part of our psychological evolution which happened to be the best for our survival.
A story being propagated that promoted Valhalla and killing everyone would be dangerous today when we can wipe out humanity with a click of a button.
Edit: and to people who claim that they don’t read the bible therefore they’re not religious or that they are not influenced by religion. That’s like saying that you haven’t read the laws therefore you are not law-abiding. When religious values derived from those stories have been implemented into law, when society’s morals have largely been influenced by those stories, when everyone you know holds you to a moral standard which was enforced to them by society which again, is rooted in religious stories. You are religious as fk.
Unless you seriously think that it’s not ok to steal or murder because… you came up with that moral value all on your own??? I wonder why the vikings thought it was ok to rape, pillage and murder..

The moral code you seem to be referencing in the Bible did not arise in vacuum. The ethical dictums in the NT had their predecessors and things like you shouldn’t steal or murder had basis in secular society before. The Bible reflects the moral view of the culture in the time period it was written, with many absolute head-scratchers looking back at it 2000-2500 years later, such as how slaves or women are treated etc. Even the existence of slaves itself was not explicitly addressed by figures like Jesus.
I find it somewhat strange and scary tbh that words in a text are the only thing holding someone back from stealing or murdering. You’d be out doing them if they weren’t in the text? Hopefully not. Nah...there is something else going on here besides just words written in a text.

Anyways I could go on but, I am the furthest thing from agnostic. In the same way I am convinced it won't start raining money from the sky tomorrow, I am convinced at no point was there ever or will there ever be an almighty being. It's not a matter of 'what if he did come down from the sky'? It simply will not happen. The idea of an almighty being implies that chaos is wrong. That it's not all random, that it will not always be ever-changing, that my thoughts are meaningless because only the almighty's opinions matter. But more importantly that everything in this universe has a value, and I have no control over it. That my family could be worth less than someone else's.
Everything is equal, because Chaos has no thoughts. There is no way things are meant to be and for me that is fascinating. Imagining what could go in the universe in a 1,000 or a 1,000,000 years.

I lack a belief that there are 100 ft tall alien blob lifeforms roaming around on Pluto playing the piano. Seems reasonable, until sufficient evidence presents itself. The fact it cannot be proven that such blobs don’t exist there on Pluto at present... doesn’t make the notion any more truthful or interesting.

Jesus said unto her, “Touch Me not, for I am not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say unto them, ‘I ascend unto My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’”
So God has a God?
So God has a God?

Say, ˹O believers,˺ We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants; what was given to Moses, Jesus, and other prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them. And to Allah we all submit.

You will find many consider it simply to be a lack of a belief in gods. Seems a rather reasonable position actually, to suspend belief until sufficient evidence presents itself. You do the same thing with the thousands of gods that are not the precise one you subscribe to.

Religions exist for a reason. Humans need this sacred realm of responsibility to navigate their experience.
For what it's worth, most scientists can go further than the simple agnostic observation. Impersonal gods like these have nothing to do with religion, which always reports knowable gods. You could claim knowable gods do not exist, and people's form of knowing these represent a common social spirit people value.

I would rather be a random, meaningless being in an infinite universe free to do what I can/want, than be some egotistical deity's cheerleader my whole life, so I can MAYBE receive their mercy.Imagine being on this earth and not having a purpose. Why even get up in the morning? I believe there is a god and Jesus is lord. My purpose every day is to do good in this world and not cause to much trouble if I can help it.
"Why even get up in the morning?" So I can go live my life? Are you trolling? Do you make every subject involved in your life about God 24/7? Work? School? Family? Calm down, dude.
"My purpose every day is to do good in this world and not cause to much trouble if I can help it" What if I told you there's billions of people on this planet that do your "purpose" every day solely so the world becomes a better place and can feel good about themselves, rather than doing it so they can please some sky-daddy so they can have eternal reward later? Which one of those people TRULY sounds like a better person?
Imagine being an absolute saint of a human your whole life, doing NO WRONG for around 100yrs, just so some dickhead in the clouds at the end of your life can hit you with: "Yeah, you're a wonderful person and all, BUT I noticed you went down the Mormon route and not the Christianity route...... Soooo.... Sorry, but to hell with you." and eternally damn you.
Why are people so afraid of being alone with their own thoughts and not having some God-appointed purpose? If there's not a 'set plan' for your average person, they lose their ****ing minds.

These religion vs non-religion debates are literally the Retard Olympics of the internet since I've started here 15 years ago. 230 replies later and not a single person has changed their beliefs or even slightly began to see things from the other perspective. It's truly quite symbolic that all the arguments put forth in this thread are about as useless as existence itself.

This is not merely a debate on what exists, but literally the fate of the entire world becoming a slave to the state and influenced by evil forces. Collectivists do not make their own decisions, they are generally controlled by one or few Individuals making the decisions for the group.
The fact that fewer and fewer people are looking to God for their dependency and meaning, tells us they are looking elsewhere, whether they want to believe it or not.
The lack of morality and principles of the collective are proof of this. This is the herd morality theory.

A creator, either all knowing or not may or may not exist. However, the fact that people can think with 100% certainty that their random ass religion is right is the byproduct of brainwashing. Read any religious text and its filled with the most random sins and things you should abstain from. An all-knowing god explained/found in these religions do not match their text. There are too many holes that make you think this was written by a human with no divine guidance. The most viable belief is that there may or may not be a creator and that your belief should be centered around undeniable proof. This belief is dynamic and changing as more undeniable proof comes out. As of now, I believe that the universe came to be by completely random forces that had a cascading effect that led to humans in 2021. Am I willing to change what i believe if proof is given to me? Sure. Am i 100% certain that my belief is right? No. To be certain about something that you have no certain proof of is kind of delusional.

When people change their minds on religion it's when an event or a series of events happen in their lives that challenge their internal logic and that sorta stuff ain't happening on the misc bruh.
