There would be a far more sensible explanation of it.What was motivation for the Crusades against the Cathars, or killing Hypatia and burning the library of Alexandria anyway?
A question that remains unanswered to me is why did all previous civilizations and religions practice sacrifice? Could it be that they all knew there was some sort of "feeding" on mankind through their suffering and that the "gods" or "archons" needed to be appeased? I have yet to see any reasonable explanation why this was practiced in every culture, and thanks to the Catholic Church and their historical overthrow and rewrite we will never know.

It’s a poor answer, but the only one you can really give.
From a human perspective, which incidentally is the only perspective, I cannot see adequate justification for these acts. Even if it is somehow not wicked, I would need to understand why. And because he can’t give that answer to us, I’m totally cool calling it wicked and him unjust and unloving.

Maybe God should have sought out your justification too before creating the Earth, moon, and the stars since you seem to think he answers to you and not the other way around.

There are multitudes more, and I've only looked at infanticide. We can look at the general treatment of women and the taking of virgins as sex slaves shortly.
You've only looked at two scriptures there too. Mind addressing the others. Also, 2 Timothy 3:16–17, thoughts on that? If your point is that some of these things aren't sanctioned by God and are merely recorded history, shall I solely stick to words and commands from God?
How about God intervening in some ways and not others. i.e. he will on occasion directly murder a fleeing army. For example, the Amorites. Hailstones that killed more than the Israelites did, then God extends daylight so the Israelites can see and murder more before the day comes to a close. My question is, why can't God just influence these peoples to leave the land instead of wanting his people to stab them to death or directly send hailstones or angels to kill them? Why does he love brutal murder so much?
Gotta laugh at you ignoring 1 Samuel 15:3 too. Which version translation shall we use for Gods direct command to kill "children and infants"? lulz
There's many instances of praise that the Hebrews give God for killing the firstborn of Egypt in the Psalms. That's a bit sick, don't you think?
Question for you, did Jephthah sacrifice his daughter or was it simply her serving at the temple for the rest of her days. I just want to know which side of the aisle you sit.
Also, retard Psalm 137:9 isn't a description of what the Babylonians did to the Egyptians. Can you even read?
"Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction,
happy is the one who repays you
according to what you have done to us.
9Happy is the one who seizes your infants
and dashes them against the rocks."
It's giving praise to those who would do that to the Babylonians. Whether that happened or not is neither here nor there, but it gives insight into the mind of God and mind of the Israelites.
Can you also give me some good justification for confusing the languages and also the flood prior to this? He seems to interfere a lot, don't you think?
So what is God going to do about himself then? He has harmed many children and many died as a direct command from him. Also, sparing virgins so they could be sex slaves. lulz

iirc, gnosticism was considered heresy and possibly even censored? What is the main "cannon" book of gnosticism? Is there even a "bible" for it?

Then there are the Nag Hammadi scriptures which I am very skeptical of as they were translated by UNESCO under the supervision of Julian Huxley who is a very controversial figure.
I'm not a Gnostic in a religious sense, but the overall worldview is interesting. Even recently the CIA declassified much of its research with The Robert Monroe Institute and The Gateway Process - some of which is viewable on CIA.gov website. This research purported that this world is a "Loosh" farm where our suffering and that of animals is harvested and that's what we were created for. You can learn more about this on youtube if you search "Robert Monroe Loosh".
Arthur Schopenhauer made similar sobering remarks about the nature of our reality, for instance when an animal eats another alive in nature the animal being eaten experiences a lot more suffering than the animal receiving the pleasure by eating it, and honestly if we examine existence rationally and objectively we see "suffering" or "evil" being the positive and dominant force over the "good" or not suffering/pleasure.
Plato also remarked that things are far from right in this creation and that "God" (his demiurge) was a great Artisan but who made many mistakes.
Many of my critiques of Christianity from a philosophical stance is that Christianity is simply neo-platonism bolted on to a Jewish story, which is why I agree with Eastern Orthodoxy's Logos Theology in many ways and its coherency but reject how they bolt that on to the Old Testament to make it coherent.
Unfortunately many Christians do not read the philosophers and theologians who put together the books of the bible, the Church Fathers, and do not understand that Christianity is a philosophical system composed for a purpose by men.
I probably wrote way too much here but it is a subject of interest for me

You still have failed to give an example of an Israelite taking a sex slave, and Hosea's warning was just that..it never happened.
Now lets say I am incorrect in regards to Psalm 137..I'm not..but let's say that I am. “Happy is the one” who kills the infants of their enemy. The desire is graphically stated, but it is simply a call for the destruction of the entire nation—the nation that had enslaved the Jews, killed their babies, and destroyed their city. The destruction of Babylon was expressly foretold in Isaiah 13:16, and by referencing that prediction, the psalmist may mean to say that the men who were God’s instruments in carrying out that prophecy would be happy in doing His will.
Again, just like Wincel you mistake what others write as the will of God..this was David speaking in anger and remebrance. If we want to look at the will of God then all we have to do is look at, Romans 12:17–19 commands, “Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord.” Psalm 137 is not a selfish prayer for personal revenge. It is a plea for God to intervene in the affairs of men to keep His covenant and right all wrongs.
But those that mock the Bible always do what you are doing, taking Scripture out of context and never looking at God's actual commandments for His followers.

There's so much information online, lots of audiobooks on youtube you can listen to.
Edit: Look into "The Soul Trap" and Near Death Experiences. That will blow your mind
Look at learning some philosophy as well, pre-socratics and Plato will get you far.
This is not "Gnosticism" but it has similar questions and sentiments about our reality and is a sobering, sometimes humorous and easy to listen audiobook:

trickedbythelight.com is a good source to get a general idea of the underlying theories. His ideas aren't fully "Gnostic" (though certainly heavily influenced by) and he does a great job of consolidating a lot of ideas and themes. The website is quite poorly formatted though, like a 90's throwback. It also points you in a lot of directions to further dig into the ideas yourself.
Forever conciousness reasearch -https://www.youtube.com/c/ForeverCon...esearchChannelis also pretty good imo. The guy can be a bit annoying at times, and he has a lot of long winded videos (I usually just listen to them in the background during the work day) - but I think overall he has the right idea. Again - consolidates a lot of the general ideas.
At the very least, I think the ideas/paradigms they put out should be taken into serious consideration by everyone. If they are correct - then it's pretty important people get a chance to be exposed to those ideas. After all of my time looking into and exploring this stuff (pretty always been much more into the Eastern religions though), I think they have the most compelling overall theories that I've encountered thus far. Perhaps that largely due to me being a pretty cynical person though.

Do you guys believe in ghosts? I do, and it may or may not mean there's an afterlife... It might point out that some spirits are troubled and cannot pass over or reincarnate properly...
Back when i was younger, buddhism, karma, and reincarnation made sense to me, but idk anymore

Not sure about Ghosts but I know that the CIA's declassified "Gateway Process" documents speak at the end about non physical entities
