You think Texas being the only blemish on the SEC champions record isn't getting in? I got some bad news on that one. Even if they fall short to UGA in the SEC game it's still a major card over any 1-loss Pac12 winner. If Alabama had faltered the way everyone kept thinking they eventually would it might be different but the reality is they never did. This coming from an Auburn fan.

Basically to break it down:

Bama win > Washington win
Ok St. or OU win > Utah win
Kansas = Oregon St
KSU = USC

That's how I figure it at least.

I personally also like rewarding the team who took it upon themselves to schedule a major opponent outside of their own conference. The Pac12 1-loss team can rethink who they choose to play OOC by missing out to a 1-loss Texas.

But yes Washington winning out would be a problem.

Although you might not be wrong because they have 1 loss Oregon above Texas in the first CFP rankings. I think that's totally backward, especially based on current schedule. Oregon's best win so far is against Utah who the committee has ranked 18th while Texas has the win over Bama and KU. So they've totally f*cked it up and seem to be giving the Pac12 the benefit of the doubt for no real reason. Even if you think Oregon would eventually have the better resume, they certainly haven't up to this point so not understanding that one.

Whatever, not a Texas fan or anything so don't really care too much who that 4th spot goes to.

Honestly I can see your argument. 1 loss Texas probably would deserve it more than a 1 loss PAC-12 Champ. I think Oregon is probably better than Texas, but Texas' resume is just better.

Yeah but after I actually looked at the current rankings you're the one who is right. The committee clearly already favors 1 loss Oregon over Texas and Oregon definitely plays tougher teams the rest of the way so what would change that?

I guess Texas is on the outside looking in even if the Pac12 winner ends up with 1 loss. Maybe they'd flip it if it's Washington with the 1 loss but I'm not even confident of that now. Seems they're more bought in to the Pac12 this year. I can never get a pulse on that conference each year personally. Seems like every game is just a 56-49 shoot out. WTF am I supposed to really make of that?

Michigan looks far superior in this one. PSU literally just hanging by a thread to stay in this game.

Might be able to say Michigan missed some chances to run away with it but they look very much in control pretty much all day even if they haven't put up a ton of points.

Thinking the new top 4 might end up being:

1. Michigan
2. FSU
3. Oregon
4. Texas


I think UGA falls to Bama. They're playing so much better now. We're going to end up with a bunch of 1 loss teams (UGA, Bama, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Ohio State). In the end you give Oregon the nod for winning the Pac12 over Washington and Texas the nod for beating Bama. Bama has to be above UGA for winning the SEC too and Ohio State gets kicked out for losing to Michigan.

In reality I think this is the best 4 teams (prob in order): Michigan, Bama, UGA, FSU

It'll be a shame to lose Bama and UGA from this but we might be heading for that reality. It just feels like the type of year UGA chokes away especially with Bama surging that's gonna cause this whole predicament.

Nobody is talking about the fact Georgia will have Bowers and McConkey back for the final run, which hasn’t been a thing for most of this season. I don’t see it as choking away if OSU, Michigan, etc are as good as they allegedly are, though it’s hard to tell given the Big Ten schedule. Penn State might as well have been ranked 50 and not 10. Just not a team that was going to be a threat this year among contenders.

Alabama is interesting though. Would give them the nod as favorite going into playoffs should they knock off Georgia in the SECC. At the end of the day, would be shocked if not one of the four of Georgia, Bama, Ohio State or Michigan win it all. Washington, Oregon, Florida State, Texas, etc just feel like fodder

UGA up 34 and having to play over a quarter of garbage time against the #9 ranked team. Scary how good their offense could be as they get more healthy.

I'm a Texas fan but I gotta be honest. They're just not as good as Michigan, Georgia, or FSU. I know they can compete with Washington and Oregon.

James Madison not getting to play in a bowl or conference championship just highlights how dumb the NCAA is. One of the arguments is that they want teams to show their sustainability over the 2 years before making them eligible. I imagine the attention and revenue and extra practices that would come with playing in a conference championship and potentially a New Years Six bowl would probably help quite a bit in that sustainability. But nah, NCAA won't let them, because... NCAA.

I am a Michigan fan, and would laugh so hard if this happened. I keep jokingly telling my friends and family that if Harbaugh leaves, we need to hire Rich Rod because the guy is getting it done at Jacksonville State!
