Vietnam and Iraq weren't major wars.. Of course we fought Soviet proxies like the Soviets fought our proxies in Afghanistan. Full potato. Look at who the US has armed and aided since the 60s. All kinds of random groups who fight against each other. You have dropped bombs in 14 'muslim' countries since that time.
