I feel like Big room is so played out they need to have more diversity on the main stage and let go of washed up dudes like Tiesto..

Aware me. I saw the Twitter comments saying stuff about Tiesto killing his set..... So my question is from an EDM outsider, what constitutes a set being killed? What would make one artist performance better or not as great when all I see is someone coordinating tracks.

Everyone keeps asking why this thread is dead compared to past ultra threads I'm pretty sure EDM is becoming washed out and people aren't really into it as before. Edm was it's own separate thing and then they started collabing with rnb, rap, pop artists and it was fresh at the time so it was an all time high and I personally think it's on the decline. Unless someone starts trying to up the quality instead of the cookie cutter beats and jams that have been going on for the past few years it's going to be dead like dubstep

dubstep is a genre under EDM though? dubstep died, then Big room took over, now big room died and the poppy trap edm stuff like chainsmokers / major lazer is hot. EDM will always be huge they'll just be new forms of it that get popular.

Pretty much it. I don't get how guys like tiesto and afrojack are still relevant and getting main stage performances. I think the average age for ultra is like 21-23, the rest of the people have found their niche music and just attend those smaller events. You go to Ultra once and you realize its not worth the traffic, fcked up people, energy, money and everything else that comes with it.
