The medianhouseholdincome is about $50k, so it would make sense that the average worker makes less.

Honestly though, the difference probably isn't too pronounced. The average household in the lowest quintile has .45 earners, the next quintile has .9 earners and the middle quintile has 1.32 earners. The average household in the bottom quintile takes home $11,490, or $25,533 per earner, which is about $12.77 working a standard full time work week, or just over the median household income if the household had two earners making that salary. The next quintile takes home $32,996 per earner, the middle quintile earns $38,772 per earner. Poverty (or even making below the median household income) here, which by the way blows away the standard of living of the median wealthiest person in the world, isn't even a function of low wages, it's a function of working demographics. If you live in a household where both parents have a high school diploma and work full time, congratulations you're almost guaranteed to make above the median household income. If both parents have a bachelors, the household is now almost guaranteed to make at least $100k.

Dude, the blue line is housing prices and the red line is the CPI, a price index that measures inflation. The blue line is increasing, and is slightly ahead of the red line, but they're pretty much in line with each other, which means real housing prices have only increased slightly in the past 50 years. Maybe if you got a mortgage in 2007 or something you would still be feeling the effects of the bubble, but otherwise it isn't like housing prices are absurd compared to any other time in history.

Is this legit?
It seems that a larger chunk of the millennial population has some sort of post-secondary degree.. yet they're literally at the poverty line?

Average with a $1.5M home and a BMW 5 series and three vacations a year?

That's a pretty retarded chart. If one feels average with those kinds of assets they are seriously jaded.

Smoke a blunt, smash a sloot, read a book and hit the gym. There’s no need to stress, we have reached the end game of capitalism and fractional banking system. Inflation has ruined the living standards and hope of many miliennials. Baby boomers have stole all the wealth and kill all potential of wealth creation. Globalisation has wreaked havoc on blue and white collar jobs in the developed West. The economic rise and development of BRIC nations and others has ensured the West no longer has hegemony over all industries (Healthcare, Agriculture, Science and Tech and many others). Less jobs, more competition, inflation vastly exceeding wage growth, real estate bubble to ensure debt servitude and the list goes on.

The system is dead and it has been on life support since 2008/9. Nothing can be done to save it. Enjoy your life, live minimalistic, learn to grow own food, create own energy and create little communities that shackles yourself from monetary servitude.

I knew the economy was gonna be **** during my junior high days and so I thought at the time, things will become great again once 2013-2015 rolled around because of the mindset of "if things today suck ass, how bout 5 years from now?" Wtf, I'm in college so I can get a better job in the field of finance but I'm starting to get bad ideas from where automation is going.

Now I can enjoy my life right now because I got the next 4 months of no school so enjoying life is set.
Living minimalistic? If I can eat once a day given my weight (240-245ish) I should rely on intermittent fasting shred lots of fat and only rely on cold drinking water.
Learn to grow own food? Sorry dude but the baby boomers fukked up that part by voting Reagan into office and going back on Carter's environmental policies. Plus the weather is kinda chilly when it isn't supposed to be if you're a farmer. It is 40 degrees where I live in the midwest so not gonna happen.
Create own energy!? How?
Little communities? I'm sorry but capitalism destroyed the sense of communities where since half of americans are living paycheck to paycheck, people have no time to love thy neighbor and get to know one another. I haven't seen my brother since spring break in March but he's in college so I'm supposed to feel proud?

Cleaning lady and 1k for utilities, you what??? These numbers should be halved
When you run a business you have to pay for help since time is money so you need cleaning ladies/extra hired help around the house. $600k mortgage at 5% interest rate will run you about $3200/month + taxes and insurance and you arrive at minimum $4k/month. The median home price in Los Angeles is 465k so that's not out of this world. Cars are a bit expensive but I never said it was the optimal budget to have. A $35k car isn't luxurious by any means. I'm just putting it out there that it's very easy to not budget correctly when you're making a lot of money and at $150k you're still gonna be in the rat race for a while.

You can't complain about the economy when you are preaching to only worry about smoking, smashing, and hitting the gym. Takes much more effort than that if you want to become a financial success. There is actually more opportunity for wealth creation today than at any other time in this country's history, but only for those who go out and work their asses off for it.

Correct, it's median salaries of people born between 1981 and 1997 who are working at least part-time.

This. I made $70k/yr first year out of college, got laid off after 2 years, was unemployed for 18 months, finally grabbed a job making $35k. Stay safe.
