EDIT - Just saw it was a baby. Still, that's like catching a bowling ball dropped from 10 stories. Very difficult to do and it's gonna hurt like an SOB too. Maybe dislocate your shoulder in the process.

Yeah, no way the kid was 40-50lbs. That's like a 5-7 year old. The "baby" was probably 15-25lbs. Which is outright insane in itself. Life saving heroics.. a miracle.

It's nothing like that lol. The weight is distributed over a way larger area and the kid is much softer, and can be caught with the body rather than just with the hands. It's still not gonna tickle, but it's nothing like catching a solid object

Mass is mass. Doesn't matter how it's distributed. A 50lb box of feathers is as hard to catch as a 50lb box of bricks. You have the added problem of the impact force when the baby was caught actually breaking their young (weak) bones. You could easily break a child's spine this way I think (MD Brahs can chime in). Anyway, it turns out it was a baby, not a child. Still really improbable, but I suppose it's possible. Gonna be traveling fast from 10 stories up though. If it was balled up real well in blankets, I suppose that helps a bit with the impact.

It will be interesting over the next couple of days to find out if this really happened or not. The guy will come forward and be a hero, or the story will disappear.

PS - Check out the guy in this video who rekt his arm helping to catch a toddler who fell from 5 stories.

Reminds me of a news story I read once.

Somewhere in China, an apartment/condo building banned Indians from living in it because they cooked curry in an unsafe manner, and also smelled up the place with their curries.

I predict some ethnic residents got a little too carried away cooking their traditional foods without regards to modern Western fire codes or safe cooking practices.

What is really messed up is that it took hours before the top floors were on fire and the people there were trapped knowing they were going to die with their families for a long time before that happened. I heard there was a woman on the top floor with 6 kids. What would you do knowing that your 6 kids were going to burn to death and you have a couple of hours before that happens? Absolutely mind blowing.

The baby that was thrown from the 10th floor is a bit of misreporting. It was a 4 year old girl caught from the 5th floor. Still incredible though. Here's a picture.

As far as I know it was mixed housing. Some of the apartments fall under Section 8 housing and some had been bought under the Right To Buy scheme. So it would have been a mix of council tenants and private owners, or people renting from the private owners.
