Lol I went to a top 20 law school and this is complete BS. All they care about is your LSAT and GPA numbers so they can post on their entry stats "OMG our incoming class has a mean GPA of 3.8 and a 160 LSAT score. Come to our school!!" Your major means **** all for getting in.

Your major means nothing but taking a course of study dedicated to helping you excel on the LSATs and critical thinking/logic was very beneficial to me. I would say your lack of reading comprehension suggests you could have benefitted from this. It's literally the first sentence.

The only majors that matter for law are science and math and that's only for patent law. Everything else is irrelevant. Just lol @ English and History teaching you logic and critical thinking, but you're on the right track if you go that route. Give me a break. I'd strongly recommend not going pre-law because if you decide you don't want to be a lawyer after law school, you're going to have two completely worthless degree.

Taking philosophy and poli-sci courses were very helpful to me, and I am very glad I did it. Some guy above asked me how it was working at McDonalds, which is the only reason I even expanded on my original post that was just complimenting that girls reading list.

English, useless to us maybe, but history I would argue is not, as taking the time to understand everything about a time period, influencing factors, power dynamics, over-arching cause and effect, etc is helpful to some people and applicable to understanding the complexity of cases and teaches people to look at things a different way. You also can't dismiss how valuable it is to get a lot of practice reading boring shiit you don't care about but still need to get through.

I agree that taking an actual pre-law major is risky, but my undergrad (as many others) did not have one so I chose courses under advisement that would be beneficial for me going forward. Obviously we both took different approaches and got to where we were going just the same.
