I tow my car when it is in race trim, and I also like to go out into the wilderness with it. I can tow a decent amount but likely never will. My truck would likely be twisted into a ball of metal towing what you posted.

EDIT: You posted OP's quote. Im a moran.
Anyways. For the dudes who don't tow. What is the allure of having such a truck? I can't wrap my head around it and never could. I see plenty of guys that have it. It isn't like it gives them status or anything.
I amlegitimately curious.

I like power. I like to go fast.
I have a nearly 2900lb car with a tube chassis front end, full interior except for back seats, GR40TT suspension, and about 200lbs less torque than you have. I can put every ounce of it to the wheels through 335 Hoosiers on the street. It is definitely far faster and quicker than the truck... as in my 0-60 on a launch is around 1.9 seconds flat.
Here's the kicker... I also have a truck. It isn't as flashy as yours... but from my ego perspective, if anyone told me how powerful their truck was ... and it wasn't used for special events... I would laugh at them. I'm trying REALLY hard to wrap my head around this. Does the truck feel like an extension of yourself? Kind of like bodybuilding but with your vehicle?
It's a good world we live in lol.

You actually need a truck for your work, so it makes sense this time around.
But 90% of the people who buy trucks just like to pretend they're redneck and are super cool driving around on paved highways.

Trucks are not fast. Lettuce be cereal. And when they are fast, the jackass probably spent 80k getting it to the point where it can finally beat a car that cost 30k. People who buy trucks for speed are as potato as they can get.

This, honestly. Like I said.. with suspension, good surface, and heated hoosiers ... I hit 58mph in first gear in around 2 seconds flat. Albeit it cost 80k... but itll smoke a 500k car at any speed, including +200mph.Trucks are not fast. Lettuce be cereal. All i see is a big white truck.
but i'm not into trucks and when i see one i imagine the driver is going to be somebody like one of them hillbilly cops who chased Rambo in the woods in First Blood, or a redneck who spends the summers killing lost students holidaying in a cabin in the woods.... all "yeee hars", red baseball caps, shotguns, and that tune the kid plays on the guitar in the movie Deliverance.
but i don't live in America where they are common.

I towed a 6k lb camper with my wife's Tahoe and even though it was rated to max tow a little above that it was a terrible experience. Every movement of the load pushed the tow vehicle rear end around and stopping was a chit show. Hit the smallest grade and you are in a lower gear at high RPM just to try and maintain speed.
Tow same camper with truck and it feels like its not even there

It's a truck doing what trucks are meant to do. I realize this crushes the misc teens that think only sports cars made for 0-60 on blacktop are relevant to the world lol

I suspect that as much as 90% of the "pickup trucks" on the road today would disappear if pickups were only available in two doors.
Everybody wants to be a "truck guy" but no one wants to drive a truck. They want to drive a station wagon - that's all a 4 door suv is anyways is a station wagon. So that's what you got yourself there daddy is a $68K station wagon (though you only paid $63K for it.)
Unfortunately for you being a "truck guy" is not only about driving a "pickup" but its also a mindset, an attitude, a way of life; none of these things are able to co-exist with a 4-door "pickup."
Some of us are truck guys driving pickups and some of us are station-wagon-driving soccer-dads yearning to be truck guys.
You dont need to like the truth you just need to accept it.

I drive cars, I ride motorcycles, I like snowmobiles and jetskis. Trucks to me, are just a waste to me (I dont tow or haul much) I have a mini trailer I attach to my car to transport stuff like lawnmowers/motorcycles/kayaks. If I need a truck I'll go rent one for a day.
Half my friends have giant lifted trucks, getting like 10mpg. Spending thousands tuning/adding turbos or upgrades. wooo, what a waste. Since OP uses his for work, more power to him. but for people just buying one to look cool (All of texas) really cant relate to the appeal. I just drive around my little 4 banger getting 35-40mpg. 30mpg towing motorcycles.
Its a nice truck though. Just 68k is a lot. i'd buy a gt350...

2017 Chevy 2500HD LTZ Crew Cab Z71 Custom Sport with new Duramax Diesel. New engine pushes 445 HP/910 lb ft torque with functional hood air intake. Trade in truck had the previous generation duramax pushing 380HP/760 lb ft torque. Custom sport package adds the 20" wheels and body colored front end and front/rear bumpers and z71 badges in place of 2500HD.
Sticker price was $68k and change. Paid $63k
Trade in was a 2015 2500HD LTZ Crew Cab Z71 duramax with 31k miles. Max trade value in excellent condition per blue book was $49k which is what I got in trade. Paid $57k for it new in 2014, so lost $8k in value over 3 years and 31k miles.
I've always had black trucks and love the look when they are clean, but impossible to keep clean here in Vermont where most roads are dirt. GM's Summit White is bright and high gloss so I decided to make the switch.
Made the mistake of test driving one last day of the month just to see if I could feel the increase in power. Short answer is hell yes. Sales manager met my demands to move one more unit before end of month.
Two weeks in and i'm loving it.

Also. Is that a cloud thunder in your avi? I hate myself for recognizing it.

And it is still a half ton gas engine truck, not anywhere near the same class of comparison with a 3/4 or 1 ton HD diesel truck
