Alright, here’s what you do. Email the professor and ask him to let you 1v1 former partner in a class debate. Then when the debate starts, you let her go first. When it’s your turn, instead of addressing any of her points, just show the class a bunch of pics of her (pull them from her Instagram or something) and just spend your debate time making fun of each of her pics. The class will declare you the winner of the debate and you will get an A

OP is still an irresponsible *******, but I don't even fault OP for the final result here.

- Professor had no attendance policy....so can't fail him on the debate for "missing class"
- Professor changed partners. Should have been known that OP could possibly still be in the class, and have a new partner or plan to have him go solo in debate.
- Now OP has an easier path to getting the grade, while everyone else does the original assignment, which OP even said is more challenging.

Professor is definitely a libtard.

Yep. This is basically how it is now LOL. And some of you misread, the debates take about 3-4 days time to prep for (gathering data, evidence, writing your speeches, etc) while the alternative assignment will involve maybe a few hours at an event or being a judge for some tournaments in my schools debate club. Would much rather take the alternative assignments

Let's be honest here, this is the professors fault. The guidelines are THE REFERENCE that everyone in the class uses in setting up how they are going to study/incorporate the class in their schedule. OP clearly followed guidelines. If your time was better invested doing other work I don't blame you op. She on the other hand did whatever she wanted and even went as far as getting the professor to reassign her. If this had been a class where attendance was mandatory I could have seen him missing some classes as being a negative sign but attendance wasn't mandatory.

just because attendance isn't mandatory doesn't mean it's a negative sign when your partner doesn't go. It's always a bad thing to not go to a class you're paying for.

Exactly. The professor did not even make attendance mandatory because HE HIMSELF would even agree that watching other students debating is fcking pointless... I have no idea why misc is having such a hard time understanding this lmao. If attendance was important to the professor, he would have made it mandatory in the syllabus obviously and not count it as a measly max 5 points off of your grade

because I would rather have that time to myself instead of completely wasting it watching other students debate? How many times have I said this in this thread now? I was planning on asking my partner to just miss this week of class too and us work together on our own debate but instead she went full potato and got a new partner and had to start over.

Also to say it'salwaysa bad thing to not go to a class you're paying for is just laughable. If you've been to college, there is no way you can honestly say there weren't any classes that were complete wastes of time to attend, even at ivy league schools. Some of my other professors the entire time will just read off of a powerpoint that they've posted online that I can easily go and look at on my own time, and then they expect me to just sit there and have them read it for me? No thx jeff

I did go to college, and I did skip classes occasionally but deep down I knew I was just being lazy. What you're doing is coping with that fact by rationalizing your decision to not go to class when you know it's to your benefit. Yes I can honestly say there was never a class that was a complete waste of time to skip. I was just arrogant enough to believe that there were.


Also lol at your powerpoint example. of course it will be beneficial to hear a professor explain each slide to you as opposed to you reading new material by yourself in your bedroom. They already understand it, will explain it to a better degree than the powerpoint ever could, and are available to answer questions not just from you but 50-100 other confused people who may ask questions too.
