From my understanding the Assad folks, the same family, have been in power for over 50 years now. 50 years is a lot of time for the people of Syria to have a revolt if they didn't like them. Those are pretty much my feelings too. Even if the chemical weapons thing happened, which looking at it reasonably is debatable, but even if it did happen and Assad was the one to blame: Who cares? I honestly could not care any less. Syria isn't special to me. They aren't our ally. The people there aren't any better than the people in some other random part of the world.

Bad **** happens around the world all the time. It isn't my responsibility to make their lives better.

The thing is, while he probably had the final say, it wasn't his decision. he was advised by somebody, who was advised by somebody etc to do it. maybe it was based on bad intel, maybe he was wrong, but i truly believe its something any logical person would do in his position.
I could be wrong, but from my understanding of the us military, everything is delegated and responsibilities are spread out to counter the rapid rise of third world nation's military prowess, so this decision was made based on a lot of other's people's recommendations, who have a lot more information than any of us do
