To this day, young kids still watch them and get hooked on Star Wars. You are completely wrong bro.
This was the end to a 4 year old "story" that was really just a huge cash grab. It was garbage, and nothing Disney has done with Star Wars is anywhere close to the quality of the OT.

All the bad reviews and bad thoughts for sure have a point, but fuk it's a movie. People act like the original trilogy was perfectly made, if those came out today people would rip them apart. I thought the final battle could have been more well done - it didn't feel nearly as epic as the final Avengers battle, but it was still cool. Considering this was the end to a 30+ year story, I thought they could have been more lenient and just made it more epic.

not sure if srs, they managed to make the 6 movie spanning rise/fall/eventual redemption and sacrifice of Anakin Skywalker completely irrelevant and pointless. Same with Luke/Leia/Han, "they ded lmao".
Turns out losing not one, but two fuking Death Stars, a metric fukton of troops/equipment, getting thrown into a fuking reactor and having a Death Star explode in your face is really just a minor inconvenience, as you can just dust ott your robes and start chitting out starfleets and armies at a chill location.
But really, the general theme of the ST is to delete the past
- TFA took a dump on the OT, Luke/Leia/Han are mopey, lonely and miserable, or just completely missing altogether, also the Rebels apparently couldn't really do anything with the status quo for the last 30 years, seeing as they still suck, while the First Order managed to reboot the whole Empire thing, just bigger and better
- TLJ took a galaxy-scale dump on everything before it, including TFA (Snoke ded, Rey is a nobody, Finn really is a useless bumbling comedic relief etc), the Force, Luke (more like Jake Skymilker) and so on
- RoS took a dump on TLJ's "decisions" and included the OT+ST before it, just for good measure

Brah, if you cant tell the difference then i sincerely dont know what to say to you. Theres a reason the originals grab people by the heart and throws the key away and why no one will give a single fuk about the ST in 5 years.

- Star Wars Episodes 4-6 (i personally think the prequels are great as well but i wont include them here since some people cant get over Jar Jar)
- Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade
Dude made a great standalone movie and then two of the greatest franchises of all time. Show me how many other filmmakers have that sort of resume. Spielberg? Who else?
Sure there are guys like Scorsese and Nolan who make tons of great solo movies (Nolan also a trilogy) but to be the head of two all time great franchises put Lucas in a very very special place in hollywood history. And in 100 years when you are telling the story of filmmaking you wont be able to tell it without George Lucas. He is the Tolkien of film.

Syke, heres 10,000 ships with freakin death star lasers attached to their heads.Thing about Marvel/DC is that even they know some comic book plotlines and content won't adapt to the big screen. I've pointed out how there's a version of Hulk who can rip dimensions or some chit. Completely ridiculous and something that should never leave an $8.99 comic book. Star Wars started doing this crap where characters were many times more powerful than you saw on the show, and just about every plotline/force power you can think of was written about.
That's why KOTOR is so solid. It wasn't born out of need to make something novel with characters we've known for 40 years. No need to make Leia a jedi or Luke a bounty hunter or whatever.

Anakin was the one that FINALLY brought balance to the force. That should be it, thats the end. Theres nothing interesting to be done after Vaders sacrifice. But, theres endless content to be done before all that.
A KOTOR saga frees you from the restraints of beloved older characters and plot lines and you dont have to raise the stakes beyond a Death Star.
My wet dream would be to wake up one morning and read that Christopher Nolan has signed on to do a KOTOR trilogy with Keanu Reeves playing Revan.

Lets also not pretend Kurosawa didnt borrow a ton from ancient greek stories as well. Kurosawa was also heavily influenced by John Ford
In fact, Kurosawa was so heavily influenced by western directors that he was actually not well regarded at all in Japan until late in his career when he had already gained such respect in the west

I don't know how anyone can have such bad taste as to be into Star Wars. Anything but the original three has been a cash grab. Especially in the past 5 or 6 years. It's terrible writing. Very little practical effects. It's literallly Disney cashing in on a name. I consider Prometheus to be a better sci fi movie than anything Star Wars had done in the past 25 years.

So the OT has to be perfect in order to criticise any other movies? I don't think so. The degree of flaw present in 8 & 9 is insanity. Chris Nolan's school projects were better written.
This really highlights how much good production can cover up a chit story. If you simply have the attention span to keep track of whats happening in 15 minute intervals then episode 9 contradicts itself. It doesn't even need 8 to be a fuk up. At least the other movies had debatable contradictions on the scale of the whole story, not within themselves, and not within the same micro-plots ayy lmao.
Rey is palpatine's daughter and force connected to ben solo because he's connected to palpatine, but she doesn't know about palpatine wtf. If this whole time she's been playing make believe with the resistance while knowing she was his daughter, then that's some chit tier cowardice and I don't think that was an intended effect by the writers....

Rey is so overpowered Jesus Christ. Luke was supposed to be the chosen one but this bish force powers after a couple of years of training blows him out of the water. Her healing and mind control are also crazy
It felt like just another Star Wars movie, people overrate the OG trilogy. All of them have the same premise, someone is secretly related to someone else, they have to destroy this big laser gun that obliterates planets, throw in some cheesy cliches about the force. Rinse repeat
They need to make a rated R Star Wars movie, like they did with Logan

So all those massive city-sized ships that came out if the ground, they had the thousands of people in them just sitting there waiting? How is the place secret if it had to hire like a million mechanics and soldiers to man those ships?

Went to see it with my daughter. She enjoyed it, I enjoyed it with her. If you don't get too invested in whatever heated discussion and over analysis is happening with Star Wars on the internet, then the movie is just fine.

It was a sideline, a punchline in the OG films. Some people didn't even believe it. It was quaint little touch & it worked. But kids wanted to be Han or Chewie just as much because force or not, Han & CHewie could affect the galaxy as much as Luke... and by extension every gun-runner, bounty hunter, ex soldier, con man, well connected diplomat etc ALL ALSO feel like they can have an effect on the galaxy, whoever they are. It feels like a dynamic world where YOUR actions, or inaction, or luck or any myriad of things can tip the balance. It's vast. That makes in chaotic. But you're all small fish.
By now the Force is god-tier & only 2 families in all the galaxies actually matter. That's a big, boring shift in the way the audience perceives the world.

This movie is a reflection of modern day mentality. Snap your fingers and stuff happens. Throw your saber in the ocean and have no thought that you may need it later, - another saber just appears in your hand just when you need it.
There is a power creep, and no work or suffering - which means no character progression - which means no actual sensation of reward or consequence.
You can heal, revive, and manipulate time and space at your convenience as you see fit.
This is seen in many modern day movies. Would love to chat to some kids and see what they thought of it. This is why the movies are ‘separate’ from one another. Dont even need to watch the prior two to grasp this one.
I wont even get into the star wars nerd aspect of things in the movie and plotholes galore

I mean it's only the biggest franchise ever created, spawned off of 3 of the most beloved and highly regarded movies of all time across multiple generations. That inspired thousands of writers and artists to build up the extended universe. A franchise that rakes in billions and smashes records half a century after the original movies, even despite the terrible prequels and spinoffs. But you're right no one cares

People keep coming back to star wars, even after disappointment after disappointment. That's testament to how powerful the OT really was, and the themes it represents.

What drives me crazy is they can't even get the little things right with these movies.
1. Rey still carries her staff around even though she has a friggin light saber. What moron decided that was a necessary part of her costume?
2. When BB8 is hacking the Star Destroyer in the end battle Finn is literally kneeling in a wide open space with storm troopers everywhere and never gets shot. Can we at least even a remote sense of danger in any fight. How you going to be totally unconcerned standing in the wide open during a firefight.
