I've been off this week helping wife with the baby, and I've been seeing kids all over at stores and such... I think I know where the kids are. At home, and probably not doing anything in the area I teach in. No virtual option for my district.

You can see their field where the kids go outside and play. It's 101 degrees today in South Texas and these kids are running around with phucking masks on. One of these days a kid is going to pass out and multiple kids will have respiratory infections because we are not designed to keep breath in our own carbon dioxide. This is cruel. The local county went full libtard and decided to override Governor Abbot's mandate to not make masks mandatory. This happened I believed last week on Thursday or Friday. Some school districts are even suing the governor. Good luck with that. The Texas Supreme Court had to intervene and put a stop to the bullchit.
These school boards have gone full woke-tard. You're not a medical board. Stick to teaching and stop with the stupidity.

Also have to of course worry about the critical race theory chit, this dad nailed it in this video and this is what I am most worried about. Wish didn't have to worry about woke teachers filling my kids minds with all of their chit/agenda. Wish teachers would just do their jobs and teach like he said math and science and let us parents do our jobs.

Haven't been on Misc for a few years and just started browsing/posting again recently and found this thread.
New dad here, my son was born on 30/04/2021 and I haven't had a decent night's sleep since then lol. It's worth every second of it though. Also, I can't complain, my wife is doing a hell of a lot more than I am and she's handling it like a boss.

As a kid growing up I never realised how precious life is, until I became a man. We have the power to shape a generation.
My sons, their friends, extended family, the children that I volunteer with, they all look up to me. It's a huge responsibility, and sometimes I'm not sure I'm up to it.
At this stage in my life when the little ones ask me questions I feel like, just 'knowing' something isn't enough, they want to knowwhy.
I used to think I was wasting my time with learning certain things, but no knowledge you obtain is wasted. It's hard to know the feeling of saying "I don't know" until you have to say it to someone who expects you to know everything.
But I think thats okay. You can know anything you want, but you can never know everything.
The most you can spend on any child is time.
My sons, their friends, extended family, the children that I volunteer with, they all look up to me. It's a huge responsibility, and sometimes I'm not sure I'm up to it.
At this stage in my life when the little ones ask me questions I feel like, just 'knowing' something isn't enough, they want to knowwhy.

-I get down on my knees to hug my little princess and tell her she's my blessing from God.
-I play "tea time" and sit on her tiny pink chair with her.
-I play Roblox with her even though I HATE that stupid role play game because it makes her happy and I see her smile and laugh.
-I dig outside and hide small new toys so she can go outside and dig for "treasure." She'll find the treasure and be so excited.
There are so many other things I do for her I never thought I'd do but I am happy to do them for her.

Turn a trip to the grocery store into a health discussion, trip to the gas station into a math problem, ask them why that billboard that said to stop smoking is important and why you would want to do that.
You could go on forever.

There was this dad and his son looking at sockets one day, and he was explaining the differences between standard and metric, how the wrenches are equivalent sizes but perform a little different, etc. Asking his son which is larger than another based on size. It was awesome to see.

One thing I really tried to embrace when I first became a dad is that time goes by faster than you can imagine. It's been 8.5 years already. Advice to new Dads - cherish all the time they are babies and all the "firsts" . It is over before you know it.

My 6 year old can plug in the toaster and make her waffle for breakfast. The first few times she pulled the toaster out of the cupboard and plugged it in we stood by - they keep looking back at you to be sure they're doing it right, "don't worry kiddo I'll stop you if you're going to hurt yourself".
So much easier to just tell them the answers/do it yourself... At first. But they learn and grow and know and can do more. It's awesome.

Wife had a ultrasound yesterday. She is 8 weeks along. Baby has a heart beat. Chits getting real. Going back in 2 weeks for the chromosome tests. At 12 weeks one more ultrasound to confirm all is well. Sounds like I can tell others besides the misc after that since she will be 97% good to go. Apparently at 80% right now.

Was pretty damn quick for us too. Few goes at it and... positive pregnancy test soon after. Now that we have a child, I can definitely feel for people who have a hard time getting pregnant.

When my wife showed me the prego test from the grocery store was positive I replied "It can't be that easy can it" LOL.
I was a no kids crew for a long time but as I got older that changed.

It was the same for me and my wife. Twice in one weekend without pulling out and bam I'm part of the dad crew.
My son turned 3 in March and has taken an interest in working out with me. He's usually outside with me when I'm doing calisthenics but until last week he never really cared much and would just jump on the trampoline or find a good stick to play with. This entire week as soon as I get home from work he starts asking to work out with me. I've been having him do burpees since he always has too much energy anyway lol. He can't do a real push up very well but the rest isn't half bad. He already thinks he's full grown. 2 days ago he told me and my wife he wanted to tell a girl that used to be in his class happy birthday so my wife called the girls mom and they talked on the phone to each other. Crazy...
