As a guy who has historically been pretty balanced and removed from politics, I’ll offer a perspective that isn’t entangled with any party allegiance.

This is a bad look. I never voted for Trump (Kasich crew), the last president that I liked was a democrat (Bill), and I have no dog in most of your issues because I typically avoid political discussions.

Spectacles like “34 felony charges” before an election look like nothing less than politically motivated bullchit to me. Like I’ve said, I’m relatively neutral in these things, but banana republic tactics like this get me thinking. Honestly, it’s just embarrassing.

State crime data crunched by the Times-Union show that Bragg’s office has gone after people for this as a top chargeonly eight times in the past few years.

Statewide, there have been fewer than 300 such cases since 2019.

And the actual results of such charges are completely laughable.

Those same data show that the most common outcome is . . . a guilty plea to disorderly conduct.

Under New York law, that’s a violation — a sub-misdemeanor offense in many cases punished only by a fine.

Felony convictions for such charges are almost unthinkably rare. Jail time equally so.

I read the article last night. He says Bragg's bread and butter is bringing white-collar convictions for felony falsified business records that were covering up campaign finance violations. Says this is not the novel legal theory we've been told for the past month or so. Goes on to cite a handful of cases Bragg has convicted for.

I read the first 2 cases cited and both cases were using campaign violations in local STATE elections to enhance falsified business records to felony status, not FEDERAL elections.

Literally comparing apples to oranges.
