I saw him perform live at Las Vegas . My sisters and I met tried to meet him . Security gave them backstage passes, but not me. I watched from the 5th row it was a spectacle.

I saw Elvis at a grocery store in Memphis back in 1975. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

We use to watch him on TV back in the 70's when he was still alive.
Used to visit Graceland when we lived in TN.

I have no firsthand accounts from myself or friends or relatives. I love his music and it always improves my mood. Dude is a legend.
can't hate on him for being a serious pussy-hound with his face and looks.

Keep him away from the middle schools

I remember when he died. My friend's family was pretty well off and owned 3 TVs which was pretty much unheard of at that time.
His mom was a huge Elvis fan and had all 3 TVs moved into a single room so she could watch the funeral on all 3 networks. She just passed away herself about a month ago.

Pretty sure I've seen all his movies. :)
i've seen most of them...I'm watching the movie Flaming Star tonight starring a young Barbara Eden (i dream of jeannie) probably a real piece of ass back in the day. MOST of them are pretty good once you get over what your conception of modern movies are ...usually dark-humour, serious subject matter, etc. Elvis was a good actor who coulda been a great actor in the right roles.
the greatest thing about his movies is that Elvis acted like a real man towards women; there was none of the simping/reasoning you see in modern movies where the guy is simp for his inexplicably smarter nuclear-scientist female-lead. Movies like everything else have become largely gynocentric because women as a rule are the consumers by themselves and in most relationships they make the purchasing decisions. Esp if pussy is in the cards, "hey what movie do you wanna go to honey?"
i've said i don't understand how the other actors kept their composure around him. Elvis was the biggest star back in the day and pretty much all of the actor interviews say yeah it was something of a big deal. Probably today like Taylor Swift being in a movie, hundred of fans would show up to Elvis' movie sets sometimes.
cliffs: one thing you really notice watching Elvis movies is this was indisputably PEAK AMERICA. you can tell how people lived that even regular people lived pretty well (house 2 cars 3 kids) without having to work 80hr weeks. Of course things were cheaper but not really...its just that the boomer generation sold America down the river to cheaper labor, etc. For some insane reason...the American Dream has turned into the World's Dream. Your kids are going to compete to live in your hometown of 100 years. Fucking enrages me.

I've outlived Elvis by 4, almost 5 years now.
Shit. (Which he didn't do for 4 months before his death).

Elvis died in a very unfortunate way.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

We lived in Memphis in 1978 and a lot of people there back then believed he was still alive and faked his death. We moved to Nashville in 1980 and people there believed that, too, and some even claimed to have info aout the cover up and where is was and stuff.

He loved his fans. I mean that was problematic in his life that he couldnt' say NO to people and hundreds of people were always wanting to meet him everywhere. thats why there is the famous phrase "Elvis has left the building."....his team had to get him out of places immediately otherwise Elvis would stay and meet his fans all night if he had to.

just watched the movie Love Me Tender....it was made in 1956 is and black & white but plays like it was made by Tarantino.
opening 20 minutes:
The year is 1865, group of confederate soldiers either defeats or robs a Yankee train that was carrying payroll-money for soldiers, they end up with $12,000 (split up among a handful of guys... was like they could each buy a business/ranch with it). Leader of the Confederate group is an ethical guy though and says they should hand it over to their General and let him decide what to do with it.
On way back to camp run into a couple of ragged confederate soldiers, they're like "Havent you heard?? the Civil War is OVER! We lost to the North, Lee surrendered!" Confederate gang is like WTF? so they split the money evenly among themselves since there is no more war. They also split up and go back to their own hometowns.
the Conferederate leader of the gang has kept a picture-locket of the girl from his hometown he loves (they're kinda just been friends though). He has been dreaming of marrying her and loved her for 4 years while fighting the Yanks.
He buys gifts for her and his family with newfound money. When in his hometown, finds out that everyone in his town thought he was killed in the War. Not only that but the girl he loves survived having her own family getting slaughtered and she NOW lives with his mother and his younger brother. So he goes home and lo and behold since everyone thought he was dead, his younger brother, Mr. Elvis Presley, married the girl he has been in love with.
MIND BLOWN!!! I was like WTF is this cinematic gold???? Just the fact that Elvis doesn't appear for over 20min is wild beginning and just like Tarantino movies... there is more going on later.
highly recommend.
