Friends - those weren’t real ones. Some like that are just there for what they can get from you. When a bit attractive they are just there to feed off the scraps. Good thing now though if you get in shape again, maybe you're wiser with who you keep around as buddies.

Agree chad status obviously makes it easier but not always - when in places where chads are plentiful - personality can take the upper hand in extreme ways even. Seen it over here many times. Supply and demand thing I guess. And getting up in age I think it will swing more that way.

Weightcut etc to chadlite - you know what needs to be done here, you said so yourself. And you're not an ugly dude as you say - just maybe not well groomed etc. As lose weight, maybe getting into those details will be more motivating as well and will make a big difference.

You can get a little following on youtube if keep at it. Personality and speech - good for youtube. Comfortable to listen to. If nothing else maybe good for yourself to collect thoughts and so on. Good luck.

First apps went in the toilet and the average attitude of women on the apps is different

So it is far far harder to meet a decent woman on them

If you are good looking at 40 or look younger then going for women that age from late 30s to 50 is super easy a lot easier than younger girls at that age

Also as someone who has gained 30-40 lbs.... A lot of women this is a complete no go. But there is a minority that don't seem to care as much

Also the family and children thing is way different. Women in early 20s have so much time left they ain't talking about it
