What's the psychology behind women not wanting to have sex with their husbands?

My buddy told me his wife stopped putting out and I'm just confused. Don't girls just lie there? Even if not in the mood, I'd think it would be easy. I've heard of such a thing and just listen in disbelief, this is probably why when I was a kid I thought women didn't like sex, in movies they're always portrayed as "rewarding" their partner for doing chores or good behaviour by giving them sex, I would rather just be single, I never had that problem when I had a girlfriend, I never "asked" for sex, I just start playing with her cunt and it goes from there, I would think something is seriously wrong if my girlfriend or wife isn't putting out.
