I’m wondering if steel toe boots would even be effective from a spinning blade ? I have them but don’t like walking for a hour in them if I can avoid it

I thought the same thing till last year . My lawn has a slope and was still a little slippery from morning dew. As I was going downhill I slipped which in turn raised the back of the mower with my arms as I was holding onto it , and my foot just about went under the rear .
Faurk , srs it happens extremely fast and unexpected , and I can see how it’s possible now

Glad to hear they were able to save a good bit of the big toe.

Lmao thanks Bae. I am going to blame the anesthesia meds on missing that. I am more curious about what my balance and walking will be like.

Keeping this casual and fun, even though my shit is rocking right now. Im happy they were able to keep a good chunk of it too. This is all provided that this doesn't get infected or anything. I am going to be here for atleast another day so they can keep me on IV antibiotics

I think for the steel toes you would still be dealing with broken toes, probably not severed. Your observation is exactly what happened to me, it was extremely fast

Actually got about 5-6 hours of sleep, which was more than the nothing I had yesterday. I feel the rod/wire through my toes right now, pretty unpleasant but not where near as bad as yesterday's pain. Even the nurse commented that she was happy to see I wasn't up all night again groaning in pain.

They said I got lucky in the sense that with the majority of my big toe still intact that I should be able to recover to a normal life. If you loose like the ball of your toe or a large portion of it, your balance and push force suffer. If you have enough damage and you lose many toes, you do need to sorta relearn how to walk.

I'm only mowtivated to do toetally bad jokes, like I was wondering if you think you put your best foot forward on that mowing job, like is it going to make the cut do you think? Is that appendage going to grow back or is it toetalled?

Makes you think really, it's cautionary takes like these that keep you on your toes.

I guess if the shoe was on the other foot I might see it differently.

I better stop here I dont want to leave you feeling defeeted.

I'll get my hat and see myself out.
