I dunno, I think First Class is worth it on some flights. If it's an overnight flight where you're showing up somewhere at 8am local time and want to get a full night of decent sleep on the way and upgrading is only $500 extra, I will upgrade 10/10 times.

Most of the time it wasn't something I booked ahead of time. It was something where I originally bought an economy flight, and then the day before the flight they sent me an email asking if I wanted to upgrade, and how much I was willing to pay for it. I gave them a number, and they sent me back an email saying I've been upgraded.

Doctors didn't even make the top 5 professions of Dave Ramsey's millionaire study. Taking money advice is like taking their medical advice without allowing them to use Google in the next room over. A guess.

The thing is, the only reason a doctor wouldn't be a millionaire is because of student loans and then they begin spending a lot of money once they start making it. Your average doctor is earning $300k+ within a few years of finishing medical school, so they should have no issues becoming a millionaire by age 40-45(especially because they don't experience recessions).

This is obviously true, but they are one of a few professions where they have increasing earnings without any risk of layoffs or decreasing income(unless they do something criminal). Doctors are also basically forced to save money, as they're not the type who can take significant time off from work to travel and such.

So I would say they are ideal people to ask this question to, as they can give an honest answer without any other pressures involved.

Yeah I seen the Porsches at doctors office and thought what's the point don't they work all the time do they even get time to drive the thing. Plus they probably feel the need to keep it detailed at all times which they also pay for

Just get a Camry and throw the difference in the sp500 you could retire at like 45 if you had a dr salary and didn't lifestyle creep

Lol, this is nonsense. The difference between a lay flat seat that fully reclines, and a seat in the middle of the 5 seat middle row on a 12 hour flight is literally night and day.

On the middle economy seat, you might sleep 1 hour and arrive at the destination and waste 2 days feeling like crap and sleeping during the day. On the lay flat seat where you get a full 7-8 hours of quality sleep, you arrive fully rested and step off the plane and immediately begin doing things.

I can't justify the cost of first class on my current salary but if money was no object I would do first class every single time

Or if the cost was more reasonable like if it was a 20 percent upcharge and not several thousand dollars

I can't sleep in first class either but the decreased discomfort might be worth it on a really long flight. Almost all the flights I've been on have been 2-9 hours and the couple first class ones were only marginally less annoying

I also can't sleep on planes, but there's a method to this. I arrive onto the first class plane, immediately start having a couple beers or glasses of champagne. Eat the meal that is always served within an hour of taking off, and then pop an Ambien, and the combo of Ambien and a couple drinks knocks me out.
