He doesnt, only reason to get married is if you're religious or you really want too. Other than that it doesnt benefit us at all.

No I think he was smart. If she's giving those types of ultimatums before they're married he'd be in some serious trouble once he put a ring on it.

There's very littel wiggle room in this department.

either you date a borderline Amish chick that wears dresses 24/7 that is 100% loyal, but will get fat and frumpy by the time she's 40 drag you to church and only want to have sex to make babies

or

you marry the hypersexual adventurous hipster type that will more than likely leave you because she's developed an interest in Underwater basket weaving off the coast of Maldives.

I think if marriage was more strict, like the only way you can get out of it is death, there'd probably be a whole lot less people getting married because realistically, they're not ready for that sort of commitment.

People get married due to societal pressure, family expectancy, and a whole laundry list of reasons that don't include love, hell one of my coworkers just got married to a man who already cheated on her and gave her an STD. What sense does that make? I'm sure they'll be divorced within the next couple of years.
IDK maybe my experiences have been anecdotal, but the guys I work with are all in the late 30's to early 50's age group, and in the break room all they talk about is the divorce they're going through or what they would do if they weren't married and the ones that are "happily married" are constantly joking about sleeping in the dog house or not being able to do/buy XYZ activity/thing because the misses will get mad.

Blows my mind that men willingly sign up for that chit. I've been told a bunch of times by old guys to not get married, that was their one big piece of advice.

Most women that arent sloots are raised with old school morals. Most of that upbringing has a ton of upside however the downside is most of these girls also have a traditional expectation that they will also get married.

Bottom line, if you want to marry a traditional girl that is a non sloot, you will eventually have to marry her to keep her around

I do agree that marraige is unnatural to our core desires, its something driven by society.
If you are against marriage and agreement with satisfying your innate desires, would you be cool with the mother of your children banging different dudes on the nightly so long as she is still helping to take care of your children?

I am not. I am more ok with being married although un natural vs the alternative which is my baby momma running around banging other dudes whenever they feel like it

Find the right partner and they make you stronger not weaker, they improve your life exponentially. Find an intellectual equal and they challenge you to be better, interest you, help you succeed. The sex gets hotter when you can play with minds and know bodies so well and can push boundaries.

You get to have children who make you proud that you can step up and be a father.

The double income brings you benefits. Sure you'll have chit times but there's two of you in it and you get through it.

it starts with actually liking the opposite sex and respecting them. And not being afraid of working at it.
There are so many flaws in this post it's just laughable.

1. Implies that anyone who is anti-marriage/relationships has a "troll mindset" against women - provides zero evidence. Implies that you only get to build a family if you are married - ignores that marriage is not required for this.

2. Statistically speaking, being married leads to more stress, more debt and more health problems. Being a LOT richer, healthier and stress free doesn't sound sad to me.

3. "The sexors get hotter" - provides zero evidence. "You can step up and be a father" - 50% divorce rate, lots of kids now grow up in divorced homes anyway.

4. Double income - MORE than double the expenses.

And the rest of it is non-logical nonsense.

On the flipside if she's willing to walk away because you won't sign a piece of paper but still want to spend your life with her was she really that committed to you in the first place?

The whole social point of marraige is to "show commitment" no? So if I am unwilling to show commitment by today's society's standards why would I expect her to stay committed? For the record, I dont believe in the whole "soul mate" theory. People's personalities click with each other for different reasons and people get along a lot because their upbringings cause them to see eye to eye on important things like finances, communication patterns, values, etc. I dont believe in the "she was the one" BS

On your flip side, would you stay with the perfect mother for your children if she chose to also bang other dudes on her free time? (Those urges are more natural innately to us agree?)

When I said "you still want to spend your life with her" I was indicating that you were still showing commitment without a piece of paper. If she's not showing that same commitment why would a piece of paper change that.

I'm a woman, but no I wouldn't put up with that. I don't judge people who choose to have an open relationship, but in this case I am referring to a committed monogamous relationship.

The same goes for relationships. I see marriages and relationships as equivalent to constantly going on crack - you're craving this love and attention that you KNOW runs out eventually. And being dependent on something other than food, water and other basic survival needs is just a joke to me. It's cool to have it for some time. But you shouldn't need it. You shouldn't build your life and identity as a person around it, and around someone else. Women are a horrible thing to invest in because of how they operate almost collectively.

And not all kids stay loyal to their parents till death.

But as soon as you get back to the torture, you are hit a million times harder than you were before, to the point that the torture is more agonising that whatever pleasure you got from the little rest was. It's pointless, and just makes your time here more difficult that it would otherwise have been.

You can get short bursts of rest, but you won't be so invested that you forget what the truth really is.

IF anything, find a sloot that has chit to lose.

DO NOT MARRY POOR BITCHES, they are the ones that go after your house, cars, and make you step down from companies you have founded.

To me marraige is very much like a business transaction. There are pros and cons you weigh and you make the best decisions based on all facts.
If she is the girl that seems to be a good fit for me, I will not ding her if she is willing to walk for lack of signing marraige papers. Its similar to not wanting to sign an NDA or SLA agreement in business but still expecting your business partner to hold true to their end of the bargain.

Monogamy is not natural to humans...just as marraige is not. So why are you open and ok to one if you are not open and ok to the other?

if you do the math it's negligible compared to the downside risk

marrying for the financial upside is a cope, son

the honest reason why men marry is because they reach a point where they don't think they will be able to land a more attractive woman

Because I personally am into monogamy and so is my partner, so, similarly to getting married, that is what we have agreed on in our relationship.
I am not against other people choosing what they want to do with their relationship, including having an open relationship or getting married, it's just that neither of those two options are for me.

I'm simply trying tu understand if there are any tangible benefits to getting married that might make me understand more why it is so important to other people.

Still, even if I was into the idea of getting married I wouldn't marry anyone who's not already committed to me without being married, to me that's a red flag.

Meh...there are advantages if you get a GOOD woman, but even the good ones...are still women and therefore at least a little crazy.

Im also someone who really values my freedom, being frugal, Im content living very simply (minimalism), etc. so that also makes me hesitant to get married because you can forget about that shyt if you do.

Im with a good quality woman right now who is pressing for marriage, and I just dont know. I also get fed up with some her tantrums she throws (she can get a bit feisty). I know how to handle it well and all, but that doesnt mean I dont get tired of it, and want to have to keep dealing with it. Relationships and Marriages involve a lot of sacrifice I dont want a bunch of drama a long with it.

Also all the brahs here talking about how you can get "all that stuff without getting married" , delusional as phuck. Not saying its impossible to find that, but good phucking luck.

Good call, I framed the context of the analogy incorrectly. I hope you can see however that monogamy and marraige go more hand in hand than cannabalism and marraige.

Again the upside to marraige is locking down an old fashioned girl that was raised to believe getting married is part of our social fabric. How hard is that to understand?

Exactly. Lol at this "it made me a stronger person" Codependency is the social disease of the century. The best strength is when it's your own. If you seek happiness or yours is dependent on someone else you are weak. True happiness comes from within, it comes from what you make with your own hands. There is nothing wrong with you coming first all the time, you must save yourself before you help others. If you're the one that has to elevate others, you are a sucker.

Marriage has never been about true love or fairytale chit or romantic connections. It's about property, financial connections and children.

I dont need constant companionship or going to clubs 24/7. I'll be away from home all the time and busy 24/7 anyway. A man does what he wants because it's what he wants, not because of societal pressure or shaming. Thats why these marriages crumble in the first place, you're encouraging idiots to stay together who are no good for each other.

With that said, I dont dislike it, I just hate how people romanticize and pressure the fuk out of people.

Unfortunately, even that is not a given

It's good to know that you're not already thinking about marrying the next girl lol.
Yup I see your POV. In my life I had a list of things that I was looking for in a person to raise a family with

* advanced degree (education importance) - doctorate - check
* strong family values - (good relationship with parents and immediate family) -check
* financial acumen - (spending habits) - check
* investment assets (shows financial acumen persistance over time) - check
* motherly
* morals in line with mine

I dated a lot of women until I met someone worth marrying at the age of 37. I guess in my world, I didnt run into any woman who checked off my priority list AND was open to not being married to raise a family. So I obliged to getting married because she checked off the rest of the priorities that were important to me.

Getting married to me again is treated more like a business transaction. What will happen to the kids if we split. What will happen to the assets. Who takes care of the estate and the kids if we both die? All those things have to be planned out so going an extra mile and getting apiece of paper to appease her parents really was not a big deal to me.

Again the upside to marraige is locking down an old fashioned girl that was raised to believe getting married is part of our social fabric. How hard is that to understand?
So the tangible benefit is that you might be able to lock down (50% of the time at least) a girl who would want nothing to do with you otherwise. Got it.

This I can understand. It's still not a tangible benefit to getting married like OP was asking about, but if you're happy to do it then it makes sense.

If you can't find it in a GF why the fuk will it magically show up when you sign a marriage certificate? The idea is to find a gf who is worth marrying and don't marry her, just keep her as a GF in a state without that bullchit law where if you live with a S.O for more then a certain amount of time you become essentially married.

22 year old has more wisdom than the married brahs who are in their 30's , WOW. The sad thing is that 95% of people in the world will never come to this realization.

It comes from the same root problem as people over-eating, repeatedly buying clothes, guns, cars, looking for relationships. People are in search of something that will save them from the empty shells that is their being. Marriage is just another one, that people rationalize as them doing something good, because it comes under the guise of "it's what society does". Meanwhile a few years down the line they find out they're still empty. Lol, social conditioning of peace.
