No matter what, if you turn it in or not. The employee is already terminated. Waste of your own time to save his job. He's done regardless. If you're logged in your account and you leave the computer screen without logging out, you're fired the second you walk back. Karma is the only thing holding you back.

Right now my plan is to keep the cash stowed away for a couple of weeks, and if I don't get a call or anything about it then I may start spending the money. Im definitely never going to deposit it, and I'm going to start going to the other location down the street so nobody recognizes me. What are the chances of this actually working in my favor?

On a side note, how do you **** up that bad in the first place? It was busy as hell because everybody was trying to get in the last minute I guess, but you screw up by $2000.00? I almost feel like he did it on purpose and maybe he was quitting that day or somethingbecause he gave me this "I got you fam" look when he gave it to me.

Do you not think every transaction is recorded electronically? The fact OP says this is a major bank makes me think he's frauding, the fact he says it was a major bank and the teller did not count the money back makes me believe he's frauding more so.

Most banks operate from 7-4 with 2 shifts between workers. VERY few people withdraw more than 1k cash, let alone double that, and in OP's case quadruple that.

Cameras are everywhere, the teller is going to remember who he gave 4 thousand cash to and at what time, they will have his personal info.

OP is most likely frauding and if he isn't he will be contacted and prosecuted if he spent the money and have a felony on his record.

Seriously, how many people withdrawal 4k exactly a day and have their account deducted 2k. OP is either fukked or frauding for attention. Either is just as lame as the other

Yes they can. That money belongs to the bank.

There's plenty of cameras and there will certainly be an investigation. That said, I'd keep it because they may not be able to pinpoint the exact moment the mistake happened.

Never heard of a bank teller handing you cash in an envolope . They always count it in front of you and hand the cash over .

I would return it. I just read a story the other day of a teenage girl getting millions of dollars from a banks messup.

She obviously spent it all on cars and party girl mentality crap. Then she got caught and has to pay it back.

This bank will see the error when his numbers don't match up. They will then go to the cameras for evidence. Since the receipt was incorrect. You could get charged with fraud. Since you knowingly and willingly kept the money.

i want to be leaf. their bad for not counting it in front of you. the teller 100% got fired it's too late for them, they are probably facing charges too and when the police investigate they may come question you since most people don't take that much money out ever since most people don't have a pot to piss in liquidity wise

Teller is going to lose their job if they find out anyway. Teller is either deliberately stealing from the bank, or wildly incompetent. What's the point of OP giving it back now?

He's kept it long enough that the bank can **** him if they want. May as well just hope for the best but keep the money safe just in case. I'd give it 6 months before spending.

Tellers balance their drawers at least once a day for this reason OP. It will be pretty easy for them to narrow down the timeline of their cash transactions and figure out where the outage came from. You aren't hiding sheeeit. Teller is definitely getting at minimum a serious hand slap regardless.

If you can't distinguish 2000 dollar and 4000 dollar ur a class A retard, should just lay down and rot. If it were to be 250 and 300 dollar, hell 100 and 200 dollar since it's only a few bills I could see u making a mistake, this is just plain wrong. Keep the money op, banks are scum anyways.

How does a teller make a mistake of giving twice the amount a customer asked for? A few dollars here and there would be understandable; but $2000? Lol.

Give it back. They have insane amount of security cameras and log everything. They will know its you and what you did is stealing. They will take the money out of your account at the very least.
