It takes minutes for the sedative to take effect. A swift killing was the best and therefore only option to save the child.

Don't know if this has been mentioned already but apparently the kid told his mom he was going to go into the enclosure and the stupid idiot mother still allowed it to happen. She should definitely be held liable for this.

The day prior to this incident, zoo officials posted on their ******** page for people to wish him a happy birthday for his upcoming b-day and then this chit happens.

All of this could've been avoided if on that same day, the mom was killed in a car collision with a tree with the kid surviving.

Because herp derp the gorilla has the strength of a thousand Klokovs and the bloodthirsty rage of a million Elliot Rodgers, and in any second he would surely have torn that little kid to shreds and maybe even raped him too.

The gentle and protective behaviour he was displaying to the child in the vid was purely to lull onlookers into a false sense of security so that he could go full King Kong and start ripping some innocent human flesh to bits.

So many lives were saved that day by killing this one potentially murderous gorilla, neva 5get, play stupid games, being a mother is the hardest job in the world, like dis if u cri evrytiem etc.

Police have said the parents of a four-year-old who climbed into a gorilla's enclosure could face criminal charges after staff were forced to kill the beloved animal.

Many are placing the blame squarely on the parents of the boy. They are yet to be charged but police said prosecutors could choose to indict them.

Reminds me of the case when a man jumped into a lion cage to suicide and the zoo officials had to shoot the lions to save the man attempting suicide.

I believe all zoos have such protocol in case a person falls in the animal enclosure.
A man stripped naked and jumped into a lion enclosure at a zoo in Chile in an apparent suicide attempt, forcing staff to shoot dead two lions.

The 20-year-old man, said to be suffering mental problems, was seriously injured after being mauled.

The zoo in Santiago was crowded with visitors, some of whom saw the attack.

Animal rights activists condemned the shooting of the lions, but the zoo said its priority was the man's life and it had no fast-activating tranquillisers.

Santiago Metropolitan Zoo director Alejandra Montalba said she believed the man forced his way through the roof of the enclosure, jumped in and then took off his clothes.
Ms Montalba said the zoo had an "established protocol" and acted to save the man's life, adding that staff were "deeply affected" by the deaths of the lions, a male and a female.

Local media reported that a suicide note was found among the man's clothing and that some witnesses had heard him shout religious proclamations.

Add trashy parents that wont watch their kid
Mix in a kid hopped up on sugar with ADD that topples into the giant cage

Also its immposible to childproof everything children are fckn retards and you should be pay special attention when there are potential dangers nearby such as a high wall. The people who keep saying they should have used a tranquilizer clearly don't know how tranquilizer's work...they don't knock things out instantly. And who knows, it might have just agitated the gorilla even more and he might have started tearing the kid to shreds. The kid was literally being dragged across the cage by the gorilla. It wasn't sitting there mothering the child like people seem to think it was.
