Yeah sales can explode on you and you can make a ton of money. But it's really not the choice of "oh I just need to want it".

There's so many salesmen who don't make anywhere near that.
200k isn't... but I truly believe 120-150k very much is easier than it seems with a good level of effort and perseverence. It takes a while but... ah my fingers are tired.

On the flip side, people as bitter as you are coming across right now (could just be in a bad mood, won't judge) are just as bad and I'd say less likely to do well themselves. I've never met a person who does well for themselves who's bitter. I hope you recognize my intention with this thread. I've had this stuff for a long time now, never made a thread about it, and just decided to after reading the "suicide rate" thread.
I'm not bitter, there are always people doing better than you no matter who you are I dont give a fuk

But I dont see any point in this thread beyond showing off. You arent helping anyone by telling people how much money you make. You just come across as a ******* who found a good situation. Congrats, but to the 80% of miscers who barely get by it means nothing

Read the whole thread. You're clearly bitter, and there's something in your life that causes that. You can literally gather a room full of people and figure out how they are doing by how they react to another doing well. There's really good advice here, you may have missed it. Even if you subtract the advice, and it was purely bragging, who cares? You should be happy instead of demeaning and calling out. This is the difference between a positive minded person right here. Just let it go brah, and read page 2 I think the advice is on there. I'm offering lots of useful advice.

I'm also going to stop replying to you, aside from you this thread has been mostly all really positive and I don't want to take away from that.

Man miscers have got to stop measuring success from others.

Theres people in 3rd world countries who barely have the fortunate lives any of you have been through yet are happy being alive and what they have.

"Making it" is highly individual and situational. Everyone has a different path.

Dont get suckered in from social media thinking that if you dont have or been through what they show then you arent "making it".

lifes not fair. For every 5 miscers only 1 will make as i just cruntched the numbers the statistics are there.

You need to catch a lot of breaks in a variery of diff aspects in life to get there.

In the grand scheme of things none of this matters lol. There is no true point to life. Our lives dont mean anything regardless of career or salary pathetic humans tey and make our lives have meaning.

What is actually involved in software sales? During your first few years in the industry what was your role?

I'm 18 at uni doing a business degree majoring in accounting because I really want to run my own business and work for myself, even if it's a laundromat or something lol but i absolutelyhateaccounting and the finance minor I'm doing. I know you've replied to someone else in my position, saying he should get into sales (which is something I've always had in the back of my mind) but I feel like I have no qualifications for that apart from my interpersonal skills which you can't really put on a resume.

Any advice on where I should go from here?. I have no desire to work in accounting or finance but it seems like a safe option seeing as I always get average grades at school and at uni although I feel like I have good common sense and problem solving skills. If I was to try and get into a sales job what skills should I develop? I'm not sure if you actually need any programming knowledge to be in the industry though if you're just doing the selling.

To the last part, no not at all.

To the first part, reach out to software companies and ask to speak with a salesperson, or search LinkedIn, send like 50 messages asking for guidance. Almost guarantee you'll find someone who offers help. If my fingers weren't so tired I'd help, but I hate typing lol

No way bro

This exactly what I'm talking about when I say some of you are delusional.

You haven't figured out some secret to life I hate to tell you.

If 120-150k was so easy to attain everyone would be in pushing to be a salesman. No one would even bother going into other fields.

The job prospects of salesman are not some big secret that only you have stumbled on.

I really mean congrats when I say it to you. But what's really aggravating (and I know your intentions here aren't malicious but the feelings still remain) is the condescending attitude toward the rest of us by claiming it's easy to make 150k. It's demeaning just to assume no ones trying because it was easy for you to land 150k.

And I know that's not your intentions so I don't make the above comments to be come across as malicious, there's just no other way I can put it (the same way your intentions with this thread are genuine and I respect that) but it's how its just how it comes across at the end of the day to those of us not raking in the cash.

And if you want to specifically think I'm too lazy or dumb to go get it and it's my own fault. Fine I really don't care. Maybe it is maybe it's not.

But I just seriously doubt so many people are just too lazy to take advantage of this easy avenue to a life of wealth that according to you is a breeze to attain.

It's just baffling someone can think that to me. I don't know.

Congrats again man. You seem like a good guy. Just don't ever take it for granted

He's in software sales. If you're in anything software related like sales, engineering or management you're going to be making big money. It's not rocket science, it's a big demand. Every type of business is integrating new software into their company in order to get up to speed with technology. If OP was making 100k selling life insurance that would be considered more impressive......

Being in software is like a career lottery

like Erp/crm solutions, the software you use to organize you business. There's two sales, one is for the business the Enterprise Resource Planning software, that takes care of your business needs such as; inventory, suppliers, project management and a lot more along those lines. Crm would be your customers information, followups, meetings, shipping information contacts basically all the boring stuff you need to run a company.

There's software that lets you access it on an ipad, for example you are working for say a door to door company like Shaw someone legit, you can pull up your application on the ipad, find real time install dates and email it back to you boss right away. all over a secure network. Well that's what I use to sell could do, the company I worked for no one knew or trusted haha.

You sound similar to me at 28 except I didn't blow cash on a Maserati. I advise you dump that asap and start looking for alternate sources of income in addition to your job just to make sure you continue to grow the income. 200 is nice... 300 is better... 400 even better... Etc.

Ok I couldn't help myself, I read your full post.

So, apologies, I came off wrong. I don't and wouldn't think that about you or friends. I don't just assume that those who aren't doing this don't try... I agree with you, and you are actually correct.

Let me clarify.

Those who aren't making a satisfactory income fit into this.. in my experience so far at my age.

75% don't try hard enough, they get into one job and focus too much on that job vs finding a new job and growing that way. They want success but don'treallywant it. They don't ask others for help. My advice to these guys is obvious.

25% are smart, hard working, everything I am and often more. However, they chose a path early on that simply doesn't provide a big income like my industry can, and it's too difficult for them to backtrack and ignore all their efforts down that path so far. My advice to this group would be more like... debate whether or not you want to stay on that path. Money truly truly isn't everything.. just make enough to invest like 15k+ per year and you're set. Enjoying your job is worth a lot as well. You can do this on 70k/year. Although... none of this group should be making under 75k into your late 20s and early 30s. If your path doesn't offer 75k or better as you approach or just pass your 30s, reconsider.

My last note to the second group is simply that there are alternatives, and be aware of it, but don't envy much. To my earlier post, we all revert back to the "normal" level of happiness. It's not like I wake up happier than anyone else lol.

Even with the worst nightmare, there's someone out there who has it alot worse.

If you ever feel you need to make improvements and advancements, do so because genuinely you want to break your life plateaus. Not because you don't have what others have.
