Sons know not to rape... as most people do.. criminals by definition don't follow the law, criminals =/= sons. It doesn't hurt to teach those that could be victims to not do things like getting black out drunk outside the safety of their own home.

Yes they are, and like I said, I'd be outraged too... but once I read that girl's letter I just said "wtf?" and became outraged for a different reason.

Yes, with his fingers. There was debris up there showing that, and also be admitted to it but says she was conscious the whole time and that he specifically asked permission and she said yes.

So what you're saying is that you too feel he got off too easy, but her letter rustled your jimmies and made it harder for you to feel as bad for her because of the nature of it?

Srs question, not trying to sit there and accuse you of chit or even slam you.

So you're ok with something happening to a family member of yours, as long as the person doing it was drunk and therefore it wasn't really them doing it?

Haha no, but it's still at least partially true. I can't logically argue against it if I'm also arguing that getting blacked out drunk leads to bad decisions, which I am.

Are you arguing that getting really drunk doesn't change your decision making? Or the types of decisions you make? I'd find that hard to believe. It doesn't have to be written in the way that guy wrote it, but it's the same argument.

honestly, as a full grown, shredded man, if i take 10 shots of vodka to the dome and something bad happens to me that night (lost, mugged, lost wallet/phone, beat up, ect) I would blame NOBODY but myself.

it was ME who took risks, ME who put myself in a compromising position, ME who let my guard down. ITS A FUKING JUNGLE OUT THERE. and you have to look out for yourself, because nobody else will.

I'm sorry when women get raped, i truly am, but you can't go get black out drunk around PERFECT STRANGERS, and expect to get home safely. People need to start taking at least a micron of responsibility for themselves.

^It's like if you were in a war and didn't bring a gun. Your enemy is trying to kill you regardless of whether or not you're armed, but being without a gun makes it that much harder for you to defend yourself. Suggesting someone brings a gun along next time isn't blaming them for being shot, it's helping them better defend themselves in case they come in contact with the enemy again.

Same with rape in these situations. It's not your fault that someone decided to try and rape you, but being blackout drunk didn't help you stay safe. Hookup culture needs to die ASAP since too many bitches think they can get WGW around a bunch of horny fuking dudes and expect everyone to take care of her and keep her safe, despite the fact that there are a lot of weird, sick fuks on the planet who would take advantage of them if they get a chance.

Worst of all, bringing these points to light gets you shunned and vilified because apparently people cannot suggest someone to defend themselves without it being in the context of 'it's your fault'.

I'm not arguing that, my argument is a few posts up, that similarly to you shouldn't be drinking if you can't trust yourself to not drink to unconsciousness, you shouldn't be drinking if you can't trust yourself not to rape while drunk. You can't say that people shouldn't be held accountable for drunken actions otherwise we can all just have some beers and do whatever the fk we want.
People might become a bit more loose while drinking, most still won't rape, murder, rob, drive etc

I've been around plenty of black out drunk college girls (I've been to dozens of parties at the "#1 party school in the us") and have yet to rape someone, nor have I had the urge to. I've only ever seen some creep attempt to do some shady **** once (typical miscer type, didn't belong at the party anyway. Nobody knew him well).
No **** getting drunk is dumb, but that's a big part of college life for a lot of students. Her being drunk (and unconscious) has nothing to do with HIM doing something very obviously illegal and him being aware that it was wrong. Since he's a good ol boy, he's getting a light sentence. Throw a poor guy in his situation and the consequences would be much worse.

Edit: are you a janitor or food guy or something? What do you do at stanford?

Oh yea I agree with you 100%. I would definitely not go as far as the previous poster, and say that people are out right not accountable for their actions when drunk. Like you said, they chose to drink. But look at the legal system, if you have drank a certain amount of alcohol, you LEGALLY can not consent to sex. So even our own justice system removes accountability to some extent.

In my book, I think digital penetration or being penetrated by a foreign object is absolutely rape. Not just pen0r

Like, if someone put a beer bottle up my agnoos while I was asleep - I would consider myself a victim of rape

That is "full out rape"

yeah, because that's stupid.

brb just start teaching muggers not to mug people

surly, that'll work.

you tell people to be careful and be aware of dangers, because dangers EXIST, they will always exist, and you can't just "teach" people to not be sociopaths.
