I'm more concerned the prosecution agreed that it was reasonable to use a taser for 20 seconds when no threat was being posed. Makes me wonder whether there was collusion going on between the prosecution and defence

Guy was being a huge douchebag, I'm glad he got tazered but it has to be within the allotted time limits.

That's what I mean. How do they find the initial deployment acceptable, and then not worry about the subsequent 4 deployments? That should be 4 added chargers. Then he dropped him on his face. So make that 5. Even if the initial deployment was "okay", which it shouldn't be judging from the video.

Should have a lot more charges than just dropping him on his face.

Who cares? It's the cops job to handle the douchebags. Situation could have been solved if the officer just explained to him why he was getting pulled over. This kid wasn't going above and beyond on the douche meter, just your normal guy giving a little bit of attitude, something every cop deals with every day and should be able to handle.

90% of the time when you explain to someone why you're doing what you're doing, and that you have the legal authority to do so because xyz, they become much more compliant, sometimes even apologetic. I always take the extra seconds or minutes to explain the process to people, even if they're being dicks.

every single one of these scenarios can be ****ing changed. Just do what the ****ing cop tells you to do.

He had warrants and every right to pull him over and arrest him.

If it was a case of mistaken identity, or nothing to hide. Then you would get out, get cuffed, and be let off. SIMPLE.

You want to **** around and play stupid games, you gonna win stupid prizes. like a 20 second tazer, coma, and cardiac arrest.

Apparently the kid was pulled over because of a mistake too. Cop only gets 4 years too. Brutal. I hope that police department gets sued into oblivion.

That kid was undoubtedly an idiot for resisting arrest but the response was clearly excessive and dangerous. The way he dropped his limp body at the end was sickening.

people thinking 6 months for just rape is too little and blasting that, but 4 years for police brutality and ruining someone's life LITERALLY, kid will be on disability his entire life not be able to work is acceptable

disgusting that inbreds like this guy are allowed to serve on the force and giving so much leniency

anyone who says kid was being disobedient should kill themselves, how is asking a simple question not ok? not rolling your windows down and refusing to step out of the car is acceptable when cops will get away with murder, fukin need to be scared from law enforcement now

Come on now really? Everyone with half a brain knows that police officers are scumbags. Videos like this have been posted here for years and guess what? Nothings changed and nothing will ever change until people start using the guns our founding fathers bestowed upon us to fight these terrorists.

That thud when he was dropped, goddamn. The guy is obviously a sociopath. I wonder how many lives he's ruined before this was caught on video.

Come on guys, let's not jump to conclusions before we have ALL the facts. Cops have such a difficult job dealing with hardened criminals, so they're always on edge. Give the guy a break, sheesh. He should at least get paid leave

Mouth opened a bit when he picked the kid up by putting pretty crazy forces onto his shoulders. then opened a little more when he dragged the kid across the ground.

Jaw fukkin dropped when he let the kid hit the deck. Holy chit, ameribrahs. That's a lifetime of never working again (or should be) for that treatment/outcome..

No flame bait, but why are cops in America so aggressive? I keep hearing incidents like this all the time, cops overly beating a citizen, even kids, teens and elderly, cops shooting pet dogs, cops shooting unarmed people because they feel threatened, while in my small European country, a cop doesn't shoot you even if you attack him with a knife, but he disarms the attacker and arrests him (legit happened in my neighborhood). I keep hearing Americans bragging about the training of their police and army personnel, yet their cops can't even arrest a teen without putting him in a coma or arrest a violently behaving citizen without shooting him, while my country's cops can. Obviously not all the American cops, but there is just too many stories like this where unnecessary violence/shooting is applied. I'm genuinely curios, what gives? Too much stress or not enough mental training so can't keep calm under threat or what?

I saw on the news last night a cop who got stood down without pay because of 2 incidences caught on cam.

First one a guy wouldnt pull over, but the cop didn't have his sirens on, so the guy half pulled over to let him through but kept moving. Only when he realised what was going on he stopped. Cop got out and pulled a gun. Nothing else happened.

Second one, the same cop put his hands on a dudes shoulder he pulled over and gave him a slight shove, threw his keys on the ground and said he would "snap" the kid and other abusive remarks.

That was it, and the reporters were in an uproar. Chit paled in comparison to what this kunt did. Stuff like this NEVER happens in Australia, seems to happen a lot in America.

Meh, I'd probably shoot someone if they had a knife and attacked me in 9/10 scenarios. (probably not if the guy was obviously slow and weak for whatever reason)

That being said, the standards for being hired in the US are EXTREMELY low. No college degree required, no mma experience, no cardio, no strength training, no real weapons handling skills, no intensive training on how to deal with mentally ill people, etc. The entire police academy training program across the US needs to be started from scratch.

Some sort of psychology background, criminal justice background, motor development background should be required in a 2 year program to get into the academy. Basically an AA in how to deal with people with all sorts of different issues. On top of that, strict PT standards during those 2 years with defensive tactics (real defensive tactics, not the absolute **** they teach now) at least 2x a week. Firing 100 rounds and you can graduate and become a cop? Nope, training courses that build upon previous courses during those 2 years as well and if you fail any of them you get 1 retry and then you're out.

Of course that would never fly because half the fat-asses who make it through would fail miserably. Such is life though. I'd rather have 5 police officers in a town that can handle 99% of situations than 10 police officers that can handle 50% of situations.

For every 1000 good deeds a cop does 1 gets reported, for every 1 time a bad cops bads, it gets reported. You have to treat as a case-by-case basis, but the media will always drag the spotlight to bad cops, it gets more viewers. A lot of people here need to visit some real poverty stricken countries to see a real corrupt law enforcement that's filled with bad seeds. What happened here was disgusting, and he should be punished even more.

LEO brah checking in.....

Cop dun goofed in a big way there. It's easy to be the 9 o'clock jury but even with the kid trying to be clever, he could have taken the keys out the ignition, told him why he wanted him out of the car, and then if he resisted, used some simple joint locks to remove him from the car. Officer looked strong enough to pull it off, so why he resorted to Taser is beyond me.

Each trigger pull on a Taser provides 5 seconds of current, so 28 seconds is just over five times the recommended amount. I can only imagine that he didn't "cant" the Taser and didn't get proper probe spread, meaning the kid could still move while the Taser was active. If he had got proper NMI, then the kid would have been even worse off to begin with.....some lawyer types might argue it would border on torture.

But man, the worse part is the dragging when handcuffed and then dropping him on his head. That moaning is the first sign he's got a proper head injury. I just don't get his thought process. If he's cuffed in the middle of the road, he's going nowhere, so wait for the van, or wait for a buddy to give you a hand moving him to the sidewalk.

The cop let us down on this one....

Lawyers make a s hit more than cops do lol why would they need to be lawyers in order to do a job they get paid less for ? Kid shouldn't of resisted but the cop was defiantly using excessive force but someone asked why this isn't making headlines ...It's because the kid wasn't a minority plain and simple .

How is the cop not held accountable for:

- Not knowing the law.
- Wrongfully assaulting and detaining somebody
- Purposely misusing a deadly weapon
- Attempted grievous bodily harm.
- Being a *******.

The kid genuinely got fuked up because that beta cop's feelings got hurt when he didn't wind down his window to the correct degree.

Too many pussy, easily scared, emotional cops.

Why couldn't he have just been like:

"Son, I'm not here to fuk with your day any more than I need to, wind the window down so we can have a proper conversation like men, and be a little bit more respectful and I'll treat you with respect, you cheeky little *******"

IMO that is a separate issue.

The kid is obviously a cocky little prick.

A grown ass man cop should be confident enough to deal with a cocky little prick without resorting to trying to kill him.

A man commands respect, a ******* tasers and drops a kid that weighs 100 pounds.

The issue isn't just with disrespectful kids, but with pussy beta cops.

How are kids meant to respect cops when they see em doing this chit?
