This accident is a perfect example of it. It would have been avoided if there was a chain closing that area do you agree? It would have been avoided if there was a huge ass sign of "CROCODILES ARE WATCHING YOU RIGHT NOW" on several different places. 5 bucks signs would save lives.

just looked the place up.....damn its a man made beach..i thought maybe he was walking around in the grass type deal
terrible situation. It seems like the resort would have signs that warn foreign tourists.

People can blame the parents, but if you are not from the southeast, why would you think that a beach at lake resort would be an alligator risk?
At the very least, put up signs.

I Went to Fort Myers area when when I was in HS and I looked at every body of water trying to see one. Never saw any. Are these bastards sneaky or something?
Also the crocs or alligators they had at sea world were cucks. One had like 6 turtles just sunning on it

I dont know the specifics of the signs but if all it said was no swimming that's a pretty piss poor sign plain and simple

What I want to know is, if the gator situation is so bad over there why would they even make a man made lake in a family tourist spot knowing it would house gators? Let alone apparently making a beachfront with chairs on it?!
If there was ever a possibility I'd go to Florida before I certainly wouldn't now lol. And definitely wouldn't take my kids there.
But, y'know having a 2 year old up at 9.30 on vacation is just horrific and having your child killed is just not even enough punishment for that kind of parental stupidity. Not srs.

I did one of those Everglades airboat tours, freaked me right the fuark out. You think you're going to see one if you're lucky, like most wildlife tours, and instead there's like 6-8 circling the boat.
Most predators don't give a fuark about you. People are big and loud and they aren't sure what to make of it. A 2-year-old would have looked like a Twinkie to a 7-foot gator, though.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

Just saw this thread.
I can't even imagine that Father hearing his child scream, blood in the water and every single Father instinct kicked in and the man literally tried fighting/wrestling the alligator to retrieve his child..
Only to see it sink under the water with the Gator. I think I'd honestly lose my fuking mind and rather just be killed. i couldn't live with myself.

This thread shows how many people need to be spoon feed.
No swimming signs ARE posted but yet people say post signs..................................
The only way I would agree with these potato comments would be if the gator actually WALKED UP ON THE BEACH and got him, then it's a completely different scenario. Then you can say YES, GATOR signs should have been posted.

There are reports of the little 2 yr old being in the water, 1 ft deep. How far away was the dad? I know that if I were the father and my 2 yr old kid was going to be in 1 ft of water (waist to chest deep for the kid) in any outdoor body of water, I'd only be inches away.

A lot of tourists aren't going to be expecting Disney to build a man made beach at a family resort if it's not even going to be safe to go near it. There's even pictures of kids playing near that water in this thread, they are at risk, do they and their parents know that without signs?
