The only people I know who "travel" extensively are mostly unemployable (useless uni degrees) and they usually come back with a fukin terrible attitude which makes them even more unemployable.

fair play if thats your bag, I prefer having my own house, cars, bikes and anything else I feel like taking up because I didn't spend my time traveling but stacking instead

Personally I like to go on several trips per year, Ive had a week in Spain over Easter, Ibiza in September planned and Just booked a week in Berlin over Christmas. I've got another 2 weeks off soon where I could go somewhere else but I actually like being at home living a good life I've created for myself.

Wife and I are taking vacations every month. San Francisco in a few weeks. Over the next 6 months we've got NYC, Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Breckenridge, and Yosemite. Take little weekend trips to places like Dallas and Austin regularly though. After moving to LA next year we will start taking trips abroad since flying out of LAX is way cheaper than flying out of OKC. Traveling young before having kids is the way to do it bros.

Long term travel and adventure tends to make one realize that houses/cars/bikes/money and the constant acquisition of "stuff" is an illusion. The bad attitude comes from struggling to find a balance between that realization and the typical world around us.

A person's young adulthood should be spent accruing essential life skills and advancing one's career, in preparation for the magnitude of expenditures that a person will eventually come across as they reach middle age.

It is of my opinion that a significant number of people within the 18 - 35 age group that are currently living today have yet to grasp the importance of seemingly mundane however integral life essentials such as home ownership, health insurance and a stable source of income coupled with an actively growing saving's account.

In my opinion however, the sadness elicited by this growing trend is one that pales in comparison to the realization that many young men and women today are neglecting the world rarely visited, analyzed or understood: their minds, their beings and their selves, hence this fixation on 'luxury' and 'travel' and 'finding myself'.

The man who spends a week in a shack in the middle of a desert and just sits in deep, contemplative thought will know more of the world and what it truly offers than someone who has crossed into all seven continents.
