The contrast between these Olympics in Brazil and Tokyo in 2020 will be like night and day. Never been to Brazil but from everything I'm hearing it's the exact OPPOSITE of Tokyo.... which is clean.... safe.... civilized... efficient and quite beautiful. If you've never been (Japan) THAT is a country worth seeing. Srs.

you're completely right lol. I lived in Tokyo for a year and visited Rio for 10 days last year. Japan is a country that I could live in for the rest of my life. After 3 night in Rio, on the other hand, I just wanted to GTFO immediately

Misc travel expert checking in... The actual touristy places are not that bad.... it's just you feel on edge 24/7 there... bit like how you feel in many S.African cities etc. Some really beautiful places in Brazil and S.America though.

Budapest is a gorgeous city. Visually it would make for a great Olympic scene. I don't know how the infrastructure would be able to cope though. They have one of the oldest subways around I'd imagine the city would grind to a halt with all the additional traffic.
