I agree with all this. I'd like to add a lot of the kids grew up with a golden spoon. Never had to deal with real problems growing up, parents always supported them, etc. life on easy mode, and then it hits them once they grow into an adult and see how tough life really is.

Basically its due to this new sharing culture and information overload.

Personally I'm only depressed because I was raised by a chit father. Lots of the answers ITT seem legit for the average person, though, especially the social cohesion part.

Never have I ever seen so many countrymen hate each other than in the west. I'm guilty of it, too; I don't see any of my countrymen as allies or even people I should really give a fuk about.

I think technology for the most part has driven people away from each other, rather than keep us connected. Also the social media point is huge, you see all these youtuber's and other random/talentless people online making mills from doing absolutely nothing, and then you examine your life and realize you gotta grind the 9-5 life just to have a somewhat middle class life, chit is just depressing to think about.

If I had a choice, I definitely would want to grow up in the 50's, just seems like the best time to be a young adult.

Society is productive when sex is spread out evenly among males. Men work so they can raise a family. Marriage is such a bad deal nowadays and women are just sleeping around, there is no incentive for men to work. The family unit is the base of society, and every society that becomes promiscuous quickly falls to be replaced by another that respects the family unit.

Some of it is due to unfavorable social and economic conditions. But that has been true in certain time periods of the past as well. The bigger issue is weakness.
