brutiful.
I would never hike something like this, but to mountain bike the great divide route would be cool to me.
I plan to visit yosemite next summer. Cali is brutiful.

Snacks (spaced out every two hours): Candy bars, chips, PB, protein bars etc
Dinner: Idahoan mashed potatoes w/ a packet of tuna
Those snacks were the main source of calories. By the end of the trip I was eating about 15 a day, started off only eating 6.
In town is when I would really eat. I'm talking over 300g of sugar in under an hour. Probably over 500g on some occasions. Gallons of ice cream, gallons of soda and energy drinks, burgers, fries, more candy, more chips, doughnuts, burritos, chinese food, entire packs of oreos, etc

Really awesome, would love to be able to do this
You mentioned you used your phone to navigate at times, how did you keep it charged if you only went to town every few days? My phone dies after like 2 hours with GPS, did you just bring a ton of external batteries?
Any close calls or moments where you thought you might not make it? I live in AZ and can't imagine hiking through the desert for more than a few miles. Did you ever feel like you might not make it through?
I assume you had some days sprinkled in for rest, what was your schedule for taking days off?

Never had any real close calls.
I didn't take many days off, only three. I was trying to save money so I was on trail most of the time. Resupply days would be a half day so that was an easy day

How did you deal with the temperatures in the desert? Obviously there is no way to keep your water cold so I am sure it was brutal trying to drink warm water when your hot AF.

Most people won't see a fraction of the nature uou have. You have your entire life to work a career slave away for a salary, but may never have this opportunity again

You ever hear or see some strange schit in the woods OP? I ask cause I've been in the Sierras my whole life, as has my Dad. Not living there but a number of times every year my whole life. And last year we heard something god awful really close to us just outside Mammoth, well in Mammoth still but on the very outskirts. Just past where the road dead ends at the back of the lakes.

I usually did 30-40 miles a day. Took breaks when I needed to. Towards the end I took less breaks because I wanted to be done
Started hiking before 6AM and stopped around 8-9PM
Ate nothing but junk food. I listed some of it on a previous post

Awesome, definitely mirin.
I'd really like to do the PCT, but I'm not sure how my body would hold up on the trail for so long. We hiked up to Kearsarge pass a few weeks ago and saw a lot of people doing the PCT.
I may try to do the JMT in the next couple years, and see how that goes. If I later decided to do the PCT, I'm not sure if I'd want to re-hike the JMT though.

I remember going up and over Kearsarge Pass to hitch into Lone Pine. Kind of a pain in the ass since those miles didn't count towards the PCT. I want to do the JMT SOBO in the future, but I would go late July or early Aug, dont want to deal with the snow again. Getting the JMT permit is a nightmare though
