if you think new people being afraid to post is the issue then you must not be posting on the same forums as the rest of us.
the real issue here is controlling the multi-acct trolls that make new threads immediately after creating accounts and the people who make new threads about questions that have been answered time and time again without using the search function first

FS generally seems like a good dude who honestly has the best interests of the overall forum in mind.

Having said that, I don't really agree with this. I think having normal users at the level of mods is a good form of checks and balances, not to mention a lot of those people are misc icons, and throwbacks to the "golden years". I've never seen the 500k+ users really get into it on a petty level.

I think that this system will sort of re-write misc history, and for some of us, nostalgia is the only thing that keeps us around.

Sound logic.


Now, I'm no Misc Statistician, but I would feel safe in saying that 95% of the negs given out are by posters with less than 10k reps. My suggestion, if the concern is regular posters having "modlike" reps, would be to raise mod reps to 2 million, and admin reps to 4 million, or whatever. It took 15 years for somebody to get close to 1 million reps, so that would fix that perceived imbalance for another 10 years or so. Also, try taking neg powers away from sub-10k posters, and watch the negs virtually disappear. Koala tea posters stick around, trolls usually get bored and find cliffs to fall off of.

I made that suggestion to ForumSentinel but according to ForumSentinel the cap is whatever his rep count is. (between 2 and 3 million) per the parameters of the bulletin.
