I remember a story about Rickson Gracie. He was at a beach, enjoying the sun. When he started getting into an argument with some dude, words becomes fists and they started fighting. Guy tries to tackle Rickson, he splayed and some how got his back and choked him out. Guy is passed out, recovers quickly, and tries to tackle him again. Rickson does the same thing and chokes him out. Guy wakes up, tries to do it AGAIN and Rickson does the same thing and chokes him out.

Not saying its a good idea, just thought that story was funny.

Because in many jurisdictions choking someone is considered lethal force.


I don't know what the situation was here.. but what it looked like was a hair pulling slapping school yard fight... where one person the bully/or/victim was well trained.

That kind of altercation would be very difficult to convince a judge you needed to kill the other person.
If its not a situation where it would be reasonable to slit the other persons throat or blow their head off to save yourself then choking should be off the table as well

inb4 but we do it all the time in training!!

So who do you think would fare better in the situation of getting kicked up while on the floor? The person with no ground training or the ground fighter?

If you're on the ground getting jumped in a fight, bjj is the best thing you could have that doesnt shoot bullets.

Yeah, I don't quite understand what you wrote. You have to understand that going to the ground in a street fight is not good. Because if you had any reading comprehension, you would see that i wrote that the other persons friend will most likely sucker punch you or stomp your head in. But sure, if it's strictly 1vs1 with no other people around, bjj is great.
