I read it. You seem to think asians are obsessed with western culture. Only partly true. Music? Yes. Sports? Sure. I can guarantee you though that chinese party culture > american party culture.

1) China has way more people and places are open way later. Cities are poppin past midnight every day of the week, and not just the big cities either. In the US, if you're not in NYC, LA, or vegas, it's pretty much a ghost town past 10pm. Even downtown chicago, boston, etc are chit compared to second rate chinese cities in terms of what you can do at any given time. I live in a big college city and it's hard to find a non fast food restaurant past 10pm. Weekdays it's like a ghost town at night.

2) Chinese people live mostly in apartments, so people go out to have fun, even on weekdays. You're either a bookworm FA, or you have to go out. Americans like to throw house parties, where it's drinking, loud music, and chicks. Don't get me wrong, I love house parties but they get stale. Even the best ones don't compare to Animal House. On the other hand, chinese people go bar/club hopping, KTV with a bunch of drunk chicks, eat at a favorite restaurant past 2am while drinking and smoking, play pool, w/e. Imagine having an entire city open past midnight. A regular night out in china gives you way more people (HBBs) and options than the US.

Current gf says US is boring because there's nothing to do most of the time at night.

Western culture is cool to younger eastern asian kids yes, but most prefer to date in their own race. Its something that is part of the culture. As someone who has been living in Vancouver since the day he was born, I wanna give my opinion on the rich asian kids.

There are 3 types. The ones who are very modest and have new but normal cars, study hard, have part time jobs for experience and hang out with everyone. These ones you will never know how much money they have because they don't want to flaunt it.

The 2nd types are the ones who flaunt it like crazy, 3 supercars, a giant ass house worth over 4 or 5 mil in vancouver, study at UBC, are smart but they really only hang with their own kinds.

Then the 3rd type is ones who flaunt like crazy, hang out with everyone, and also study super hard.

It's easy to pick off who is from where and honestly it's ****in sick seeing lambos, ferraris, rolls royce, etc everywhere you go. With so many chinese people here in Vancouver they have made it such a super safe place. Like seriously, I can walk around at 3 am and be totally safe. I love that. And I have neighbors with supercars (I don't have one) all around me. It's dope.

But then comes the negatives. Store signs in full chinese. Bus signs in full chinese. The chinese acting like they are better than everyone and bringing culture that does not belong here. I've met countless chinese who are super polite, giving. They really want to show you how their country is like. Our neighbors always invite my parents out to expensive dinners just because. Then the culture of the uneducated chinese comes which is shoving like a savage at a bus stop, being super loud in public, pissing in public, ****ting in the mall, etc. That **** is ****ing gross real talk. And you also get the super rude chinese people who look down on anyone who isn't chinese. I do not like this whatsoever. I'm Iranian and we love western culture. In any country we are ideal immigrants and we do our best to fit in with society. Obviously there are tons of rude iranians and persians but we never refuse to learn the language or culture and we don't shove and push at bus stops, piss in public, etc.

Also on top of that real estate here is ****ed. Look I'm happy that they were able to escape China and all it's problems and start a brand new life in Canada. That's what the country is all about. That's what my family did. But for ****s sake when you refuse to learn their culture, language, beliefs, that **** pisses me off. It's so ****ing disrespectful. I don't care that 2 20 year old kids have a 3 million dollar house on my street with a ****ing 458 italia, range rover supersport, and lambo huracan parked outside. That's amazing man I wish I could have that at my age (21) but the fact that they are always speeding like crazy in a residential area and as far as I know can't even speak english a little bit. That **** pisses me off. The "elitist" mentality. As well as "Oh Vancouver is so primarily chinese I don't even need to learn english". I really don't like that.

I've lived in 3 different Chinese cities and been all over. I don't believe that is the case at all. The majority of Chinese people do not live like that, or do those kinds of things.

I live in a huge city (Hangzhou) and it's pretty quiet at 9pm later.

If that was South Korea I would definitely agree with you. South Korea seems to be bustling at all hours, but when I came to China it was like the whole country shuts down at 9.

My parents rent out a couple rooms in their house to chinese kids. I just moved in with my parents to recover from a bad bicycle accident and one of these rich kids is renting out a room. He's only 16 but routinely buys $1000-$1800 shoes from online. Ive seen them come in the mail. He buys $400 dress shirts that look like regular $50-$75 dress shirts. The last pair of shoes he bought cost almost $2000 and are too big for him, he said he'll just keep them but never return them because he doesn't feel like bothering with it. He always eats out at expensive restaurants and takes uber everywhere. Only 16, he's doing bad in school though, detention, doesn't do homework either. *edit* forgot to mention he asked my parents to take him Maserati shopping lol
