It's like an extreme version of thinking everyone wants to see 350 pictures of your kids.

Just out of curiosity, how is that a PITA for anyone else? Understood about missing halloween for a year, it certainly isnt the end of the world nor does the kid HAVE to have it.
Being a father of a 3 year old myself, last night I got to witness him trick or treat and the amount of excitement and joy he got to experience gave me joy.

Kudos to plane dad for letting his 3 year old still experience that joy. The only PITA it would have been is for him.

I appreciate the fact that youre making your argument in a polite and neutral manner, but this was an extremely controlled act on the father's part. Not sure where the lack of manners and respect thought is coming from either. There was no "running rampant or seat kicking". I wouldnt appreciate that either, but this was merely a father doting on his cute lil girl and trying to make up for her missing the first Halloween that she is actually lucid for.

He was pretty clear that it was certainly cool if you didnt want to participate. But Id like to better understand your feelings towards this? You really would be bothered by taking 10 seconds of your day to help someone else out? The logic you use (people dont want kids bugging them on their flight) is nonsense, if you really are that uptight about being bothered then fly private.

Uhhhm did you read the note? He was totally cool with the fact that some people could be bothered by this. Ive been a heavy traveller for more than 2 decades. Id like to think ive seen a lot in airplanes and I have been in a lot of different states of minds while on a plane. But for someone to be bothered to help for less than 5 seconds kind of blows my mind. But then again, I also have kids so I am open minded to the fact that others might not see it the way I do. Just really hard to wrap my head around the amount of time it would take to do such an act. It takes the same amount of time to say yes then to say no in this circumstance. And again, each person is "bothered" by the damn flight attendants and captain every time they get on the mic to give a BS update anyways. If you really cant be bothered, then fly private like I said in another post.

Since when is ANY commercial flight peaceful? Do we go through the same airports and fly on the same type of airplanes? Commercial flights are ANYTHING but peaceful. I can SLIGHTLY understand if you are flying first class or suites class and some peasant father sent his child up to your seat to bug you for candy.....jk still a scrooge either way

I like kids when they're well behaved, when they're running around acting like lunatics in public, my patience runs very thin. I raised my nephew for the last few years, he's 5 now. I'm the one that woke up early when he got up on a Saturday to wrestle, watched cartoons until i went crazy, tried to include his friends when playing a game etc...

It's not the kid that's the issue, it's the dad. Like I said, I would do it just because it's the right thing to do socially and morally, and i would feel like a kunt if I didn't do it. But the father is kind of forcing your hand to participate because who wants to be labeled as the grim reaper on halloween to a 3 year old little girl. You can't sit back and just let her pass you by without participating because it's a little kid, but you can, however, feel like the father... is a goddamn douche.

It's not a big deal, and I probably wouldn't think twice after I got off of the plane, but in that moment as it's happening, that's the first thing that comes to my mind.

That's the thing though, nobody is getting riled up lol. I'm pretty sure everyone said they would participate, but be slightly annoyed at the dad. That doesn't mean they would be seething for the entire flight or throw the candy at the little girl. It's a minor annoyance. Miscers are getting in their feelings and causing a big chit storm for no reason
