being attacked? srs I have a few indian friends (born in the US) and despite the image they have in the US (i mean just take a look at misc LOL) they don't feel like are some sort of marginalized minority group, which I thought was really interesting. they don't feel like they are put "down" by the man despite being treated like **** pretty often by some white people on our campus. why do you guys think this is??

Coz we are not liberal ******* minority that go around preaching a backward ass 'religion of peace' or show up to a country in pick up trucks looking for benefits.

Indians in North America, at least my family and friends are all hard workers and know what a privilege it is to live in a 1st world country with running water and electricity.

how are they being put down by the man? how are they treated like chit by white people? outside of the misc/internet, they are treated like normal people. in fact, they get treated pretty well. in my area, people perceive indians as being engineers, doctors, pharmacists, etc and treat them well because they have money. from my experience, indians are by far some of the nicest people, dont start problems, and very respectable/polite

I never feel ''put down by the man'' or marginalized due to simply being Indian. Yes, it can mean we may need to work a little harder and overcome some stigmas socially, but that's the case for several races and is just another opportunity to improve and challenge ourselves. For example, I started working out to be more successful with girls (with whom my non Indian friends did a lot better) and it helped me improve myself tremendously over the years. Something very positive came out of that challenge.

Professionally, it can actually be a benefit in most white collar jobs. No complaining on my part.

every indian ive met at college was smart, hard working, well driven, and nice srs. worked with plenty of them on group projects and saw them in the gym



edit: also never saw them get treated like chit IRL. idk if it was just the school i went to or what, but they were charismatic (no homo) and everyone got along with them. this is anecdotal ecidence though, obviously

I'm proud as fuk of my heritage, and Indian people working hard, being productive, raising their kids well, valuing education, and having culture retained even when they move to other countries.

In my extended family I have - specialist doctors, a PhD astrophysicist, a surgeon, general physician (cousin of my age), scientists, lawyers etc. They are all nice, law-abiding, and civilized people too, who practice various Indian and Hindu customs.. in the Western country they live in. U mirin?
