What a terrible defense of a ticket that sold out the entire party. An absolute cucked response. I will be changing my political party affiliation, 100%, because I cannot support this.

Agreed and well said.

Then don't. It's very simple, you have three choices:

Drump is a pathological flip flopper, narcissistic tool, with zero moral core it appears willing to say anything to get elected

HC is a criminal and corrupt to the core.

GJ is a goofy SOB who has brain lock and sucks when it comes to being put on the spot and some wacky ideas and some decent ideas who has a VP who says things not always in the best interest of his own guy or party.

Of those the three, I'd still take the goofball.

From Weld. Per usual, media spin is ignored when applied to people they don't want, then whine when applied to their candidate:

THE DEMOCRATIC MEDIA MACHINE IS AT IT AGAIN... FALSE STORIES

Responding to numerous web stories and media reports regarding my strong denunciation of Donald Trump Tuesday, I released the following statement today:

Several web sites and media outlets have seized upon my statement from a news conference Tuesday in Boston to jump to conclusions that are wishful thinking, rather than reality.

Led by Occupy Democrats, a well-known mouthpiece for the left, the sensationalists and wishful thinkers are re-writing my forceful condemnation of Donald Trump into a suggestion that voters should support Hillary Clinton.

That is absurd.

Governor Johnson and I are campaigning nonstop, with rallies and appearances scheduled over the next few days across the country from Alaska to Cincinnati, and are fully committed to giving voters the third choice they deserve in this election.

Any suggestion to the contrary is the product of active imaginations and partisans in both the Republican and Democrat camps who see how many independents, millennials and other disenfranchised voters are looking to our ticket as a vote they can cast in good conscience.

I have made clear from day one my fear of a potential Trump presidency, just as I have made clear my policy differences with Hillary Clinton. The only candidate I am urging voters to support for President is Gov. Gary Johnson. Period.

The wishful thinkers need to take a break and start wishing for something else, because the Johnson-Weld ticket is not giving an inch to Donald Trump OR Hillary Clinton.

This is a problem that the Johnson and the LP and 3rd party candidacies in general face that has caused things like this and the Aleppo moment to happen. These guys don't have a party apparatus with a billion dollar budget with high priced consultants and pollsters and speechwriters scripting everything they say or whole news networks in the tank for them to do damage control or any of those other advantages that the major candidates have. I get exactly what Weld was saying, but he didn't say it well, so it's not surprising at all that the party-aligned media did with it what they wanted.

Money is one of the biggest problems with politics but getting rid of Citizens United would barely scratch the surface of solving it when part of the issue is party control of entire news networks and other media outlets (on both sides...). This is what the old Fairness Doctrine tried to address, but that document sucked and was a completely inappropriate nanny state invasion of free speech, so I don't know that there's a good solution, either, other than to convince Mark Cuban & Bloomberg to sink a billion dollars into the LP or some other moderate 3rd party.

The former Massachusetts governor told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow in an interview Tuesday that he is “vouching” for Clinton’s character.

“Well, I’m here vouching for Mrs. Clinton ― and I think it’s high-time somebody did,” Weld, who has known Clinton for four decades, said. “And I’m doing it based on my personal experience with her, and I think she deserves to have people vouch for her other than members of the Democratic National Committee. So, I’m here to do that.”

Weld, who is running with Libertarian nominee former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, went on to say that he believes Clinton is a “person of high moral character” and “an honest person.”

no way bro, they're the smart ones.

If GJ had left Weld and the SJW chit behind and at least tried to run like he did in 2012 I would understand why people supported him (although it makes no sense with an anti-establishment candidate cracking apart the GOP), but this version is just pathetic and laughable.

It's somewhat irrelevant at this point. At this point, it's about setting a precedent for future elections that people know third party is viable. I suspect GJ will do better than many expect, but by being dumb enough to back Trump, people all but handed POTUS to HC. She was the easiest Dem candidate to beat since Carter, and they still fu$#ed it up.

Sorry you drank the Trump Koo-laid bro, but he's not remotely fit to be POTUS and if you can trust a man who has changed his political affiliations five times, done a 180 on every major issue, called HC a friend and great at what she does, etc, etc over goofy GJ, that's what I call delusional.

I'd still take Trump over HC obviously.

Thank you sir. At some point, voting lesser of two evils gets old. I have been doing that longer than some posting in this thread have been alive. To date, where has that gotten us? You know the answer as well as I do.

LOL. Trump is the most ignorant candidate who has run for President in my lifetime, and it's not close. His policies have about a 5th grade level intellectual depth and are always not just wrong but incredibly stupid once you examine the issue in any level of detail. The fact that the two people left who have any chance to win are either this childish narcissist or a career criminal with a mile long trail of corruption is really sad and frightening for the country.

And yet, you'd rather the career criminal win. Says a lot about you personally.

Well, here's my recap;

I'm happy to see HC is not POTUS. Obviously, I wished GJ had done better, but any illusions of a win were long gone. But that's one election, hence a battle vs the war and all that. I just want to see third party set for future elections to break the two party stranglehold we have been stuck with for so long.

All along Trump supporters claimed a vote for GJ/third party was a vote for HC when most polls suggested the reverse, and that appears to be the case:

Did third-party candidates cost Hillary Clinton the election?

Seriously, the people have spoken and rejected the PC more of the same Obama gave us BS. I thought Reason did the best job yet of "getting it" vs blaming it all on working class white men for the Trump win:

If the difference between that 1.7% would have gone to HC when the difference was 25.6% to 25.5%, then yes, GJ may have cost her the election. Obviously, had those dinks who took their toys and stayed home had gotten off their worthless flabby glutes to vote, who knows what the results may have been. Obviously, we are talking about how it broke within the group of actual voters vs non.

Had the 49% who didn't show had voted for Johnson, or even written in a name of a person they'd wished had made it ( think Rand Paul got quite a few), it would send a very strong message and might actually lead to the change they want. Staying home in a Democracy is not an option if people actually give a damn about the country. Any vote is not a wasted vote. Not voting is a wasted vote.

49% of the eligible voters need to keep their pie holes closed as they tune in to see who won Survivor or what have you. I'm much more digusted with them than I anyone who voted for either candidate.

I'm glad he did not. The LP doesn't deserve anything after selecting that fukin retard. Why should they be taken seriously when Johnson and Weld are the face of their party?

Because 5% wouldn't have put them in charge of anything. It would have propelled the libertarian party into a position to be a contender in the future. Plenty of us have been sick of the 2 party system for well over a decade.

I'm well aware of what 5% does. My comment remains the same. After selecting that retard, they don't deserve anything. Maybe they should have picked someone better and they would have gotten 5%. If you can't get 5% with these two candidates running, it's pretty clear your own candidate is a fuk up
