As a Canadian I am embarrassed on behalf of the OP and would like to clarify that most Canadians aren't like OP.

Him not being from Canada has no impact on how he performs the job of National Defense Minister. To say he shouldn't be the Minister of National Defense is both illogical and stems from nationalistic pride you did nothing to deserve, in the sense you feel proud because you were lucky enough to be born here.

This man is as Canadian as you or I and has done infinitely more for his country than you and I ever will. I'm as conservative as anyone else and believe in proper immigration policies and conducting due diligence as to not let undesirable people into our country; however, there are many great immigrants that are intelligent and productive members of society like this man and I am happy to call them fellow Canadians and don't feel any more Canadian than them just because I was born here. I am very fortunate to be born in Canada and I take pride in being a Canadian; however, I am not proud at the fact I was lucky enough to be born here. I am proud to be Canadian because of the collective values we share as a nation and the outstanding global reputation we have.
