Tahoe has third row, even the size below that (Explorer and all those) have third row seats. There just isn't so much room behind the third row when it is in use when compared to a Suburban/

Nope, Tahoe's are available with 3rd row. Has been standard since 04 models I think.

No question the VP9.
Heavy trailer + cars, farm equipment, etc, no exact idea on mileage but I would say at least 8-10k miles a year back when I was in that line of work. Likely should've used a diesel, but I've put an assload of miles on tahoes/suburbans in regular base model v8 form.

I'm not saying that the tahoes are the end all of vehicles, simply that in my opinion, they are better than explorers. The 2011+ explorers look decent but too close to crossover/van territory for my liking.

The jacked up part is that even the new body style Yukon XL's and Suburbans have a reduced cargo space compared to the previous body style.

Which is exacerbated by the fact that they sit so damn high now.

Not that any of that is going to stop me from buying my wife one next month. Just pointing out that some things have changed.

I found out during this process that apparently even the Denali doesn't have a true AWD stystem anymore.

We had a 2013 Yukon XL for two years. Went back to a Honda Pilot a few months ago. I liked the Yukon, but we just didn't NEED the room. The Pilot does everything we need, and gets 22 mpg while the Yukon got 16.

Didn't they go to an independent rear suspension causing that?

Also until the recent re-design the third row seats in the Suburban/Yukon XL had to be physically removed from the car and then put back, which gives more potential cargo space when they are out, but those things are heavy enough a lot of people would not reasonably be able to do it

Obviously not calling you on it (the end all talk), but do answer for the ground clearance issue. Sounds like you probably would be better served w/ a Tahoe or the like, but I'd be surprised if the average user wouldn't be better off w/ the Exploder. Did you happen to check on the ground clearance issue? Consider price and fuel economy also, and mix in the idea that almost nobody tows cars and farm equipment with either. Does not towing cars and farm equipment make you a soccer mom now?

I towed a car with my Explorer. Haven't towed a car with the Suburban. Now what?

I did fit multiple 12 foot long 6"x6" treated wood posts inside of it though. With the tailgate completely shut. Can a pickup do that? Didn't think so.

Look, let me tell you, the Suburban is so much better for towing. It really is. It's terrific at towing. I have friends ask me all the time, how much can you tow with that Suburban? And I say to them: I can tow a yuuuuge amount with it. A bigly amount. There is no way an Explorer could tow what I tow.

That pickup looks like the arsewhole who parked in front of me at the gym this morning. Backed into the space in front of me at some point after I had gone in. His trailer hitch was about 2 inches from my bumper. I'm assuming he had a back-up camera . . . if not, then he was even more of an idiot than I thought to start with. WTF do people do that crap?

My next truck will have a backup cam. Those things are sweet. I can get pretty close with my truck but I can't see anything behind the tailgate within 10 feet so I'm just guessing when I'm backing up.
