I was hoping you would actually tell me an example that I didn't know of.
To answer your question though, I believe the first 4 years of Bush we had Republican congress in both houses and an R in the White House. How pro 2a he was, I don't know...but even so, with 4 years of R control, you'd think we would have seen a couple worthwhile things. Even narrowly defeated pro-gun ideas would have been nice.
Our hopes of "this time being different" fall on a guy who has in the past been a Democrat himself, had never really shown a stance on the 2a one way or the other (I would guess that a hardcore supporter of the 2a as he claims to be, there would have been evidence of this in the past), who already appears to be taking some steps back on other stances and the fact that he SAYS he explicitly believes in the 2A exactly as it's written. I'm hopeful that some of the good guys in congress can propose solid pro-2a legislation and in our polarized political world the R's will support it all just to piss off the D's, but until I actually see some real action I'm not going to be optimistic. Hopeful, yes. Optimistic, no. Gun owners are too much of a guaranteed voting base for the R's and they know they don't have to placate us.

Why would there be evidence of his 2A support in the past? What are you looking for, exactly? It's not like he's had a chance to support or vote on legislation.
You haven't been paying attention if you don't see very good reasons to believe he is more pro-2A than any president or likely-president any of us can remember

He said himself that the issue of people getting guns who are on no-fly lists or watch lists should "be looked at very strongly". Suggesting that maybe people who are arbitrarily thrown on a list shouldn't get guns.
There are other ways for people to show their support without having the chance as a politician. For example, if you ran... you have a history of talking about guns, about helping with the appleseed stuff, you are a known gun owner, etc. Donald Trump is a "lifetime member" of the NRA (probably got it around the time he decided to run) and has a concealed carry permit....that's pretty much all the evidence we have that he's pro-gun. There are countless people I know are pro-2a that have never had a chance to vote on it, but someone who has been in the limelight his whole life has never shown any semblance of being a stout support of gun rights, besides SAYING he is during a time in which it's convenient to say that he is. Additionally there are countless celebrities (which Trump essentially is) who you and I both know are pro-2a guys and they haven't voted on any legislation.
Again, I'll be hopeful. I believe he might sign something pro-2a if it hits his desk. Just as a I said though, we haven't even really had any narrow misses with pro-2a stuff. The R's know we will vote for them no matter what.

A7M3rLWLoVY
And yet other pro-2a politicians in congress didn't propose or pressure him to pass any pro-2a bills. Like I said, we really haven't come close to getting a significant bone thrown our direction in a very long time. Personally, I suspect that it's because no matter what everyone knows who gun owners will vote for, because the alternative is much worse. We're mostly content with nothing happening with guns, if the only alternative is something negative. Now our hopes rest in the hands of someone who talks the talk, but has talked the talk on other issues and already started creeping his stance back a little. Although I admit, he hasn't been even inaugurated yet, so his actions will be what's important AFTER that happens. Congress I believe does have the power to really encourage pro-2a stuff, and there are some really good guys there to do it, that's why I will remain hopeful.

What makes me hopeful is that he has a 2nd Amendment Coalition headed by his son who is also allegedly very pro 2A. Among the co-chairs is CEO of SilencerCo (among other very pro 2A people), and one of their listed "to do" items is to make silencers easily obtainable. I don't know how much clout the coalition will have, but it seems to be a sign of them being pretty serious about 2A rights issues. And it actually seems obtainable if they actually follow through.

FWIW his son being the head of this coalition gives me more of a sense that his son is very pro-gun than anything. However Trump absolutely comes across as someone who isn't going to pass up expert opinion on most subjects (as evidenced by having the coalition in the first place), so a coalition of the experts (who are pro-2a) is nice. Additionally, he seems like the type that would kind of give his kid(s) their pet projects and support them even if he personally is indifferent on the subject. His son being part of a coalition for the 2a suggests that his son is at least very supportive of it, which as long as dad is supportive of him, I'm happy.
The pieces are in place for pro-gun policy. Someone just has to be willing to set it in motion. I hope I'm completely wrong about my pessimism and Trump is the best pro-constitution President we've had.
brb googling more about the other members of the coalition.
brb hopefully proconsul is on it.

Estimate for the Escape came in . . . $10,500. FFFFUUUUUUUUUU. Pretty much in the ballpark of what I was expecting--also pretty sure that the insurance company will total it, but we'll see. It's not worth a whole lot more that than by blue book.

I agree . . . my son "got off easy" on this one, all things considered (outside of the grief I am going to give him for all eternity). No injuries, only one other car involved and it wasn't a porsche or something and I bet his damage is <$3k, the fire dept came right away and since nobody was hurt and no leaking gas or fluids they left and said "cops said they aren't going to come" . . . so is looks like there will be no ticket.Could have been worse. Kid totaled his car & my moms last month bill was over 100k, For both.
She had to file underinsured because he had crappy limits. Luckly she had the coverage or it would have went to court i bet.

Still . . . I'm going to ride him like Seattle Slew for awhile.

It's definitely different than in the past

I want to re-acquire a ball python for some reason now, can't imagine why

When I totalled my car last year it's KBB value was like $3k. When insurance decided it was totalled they called me up and said "Okay so our research says your car was valued at $6.5k, do you agree?"
I responded "Oh, okay... let me look up what my numbers are" Then I shuffled papers around acting like I was looking at stuff, "Yeah... I suppose, that's fair."
Lmao I came out on top by $3.5k (above what it was valued). Used $5k of it as a down payment towards my current car.

I can't believe that after everything Obama did, and everything he tried, and how the R congress prevented legislation, you are going to legitimately make this comment. I bet you think Hillary is completely innocent and got railroaded by the mean old FBI too
