IOW, they're all Government run organizations. What is the Government incentivized to do? Grow bigger. How do we accomplish that goal? Create a problem for which we need bigger Government to solve that problem. How do we grow the Government? More taxes.

Again, you're stating your definition of doing the "right thing" when you admittedly don't even understand the data you've looked at. If you don't have a certainty of what the cause of the problem is (assuming a problem even exists, which you can't be sure of), you also can't be sure of the correct course of action to solve that problem.
dude this has been proven lol, the CO2 we are putting in the atmosphere is destroying the planet big time.

If you dont want to review or believe the science, theres nothing anyone can do.

well I think that only actual scientists will be able to fully understand this s*it.

so, we can either follow their lead or make up theories as to why 97% of them are lying

Most of the science really is not that hard to understand for anyone who has studied rudementary statistics and science.

Do you think most people in this thread fall under this category? James already admits he doesn't. I will freely admit to not being an environmental scientist/biologist/what-have-you (took CompSci though!). Are you a card carrying scientist sir?

Basically what this issue comes down to (largely) is that a group of scientists have made an assertion, and published some data on their findings/methods, etc. We, as laymen, have to decide if we want to believe that data or not. Since nobody in this thread is qualified (so it would appear) to properly interpret the data, it just becomes an issue of "do you believe without evidence you can understand" (which is no evidence at all), or not?

I choose not to. The climate change brigade chooses to blindly believe, and supports changing economic/tax policy based on those blind beliefs. I "believe" there's a term for people like that. It's "useful idiots".

I majored in Economics. I took enough maths and statistics to be able to understand scientific papers, anyone who took a couple of statistics classes at uni level shouldn't have issues with the terminology or methods used in most papers. If you give me a paper, I'd happily explain the process.

When you actively reject science because of the off-chance that they're pushing an agenda or are lying, that makes you a tinfoil hat-wearing paranoid schizophrenic.

What DO you believe? By your logic, you don't believe anything. If you don't believe 97% of climate scientists about man-made climate change, do you believe anything at all??? What more do you need? Do you live in a doomsday bunker with newspaper clippings glued to the wall?

It's not bogus. Unless you're referring to that retarded source that adnim posted that is reinventing how the world compiles consensus data.

97% is the real number. Sorry about the facts, though.

That specific study by Cook had methodology flaws (Ironically flagged up by other members of the scientific community, the people who apparently don't challenge evidence that goes against a certain viewpoint.)

But there are a whole array of studies that put the level at 90%+ with the differentiation being on what you define as agreeing. Authors of some of the most well known of those producted this which reviews the methodologies used:http://iopscience.iop.org/article/10...26/11/4/048002

There are NO studies put out there, even by those who do not believe in it, that can show a low level of agreement amongst the community.

it's a complex issue. We ARE trying to get developing countries to comply, but their argument is that western countries were built off of fossil fuels so its hypocritical to not let them do it. So, they are trying to balance it out with credits etc so its more fair.

We might affect the climate change, but that doesn't mean we should do something about it. The costs of environmental policies induced by these fanatics are going to hurt future generations much more than climate change ever will, mark my words.

"fallacious appeal to authority"? Are you phucking kidding me? I'm just listening to what the CLIMATE SCIENTISTS are telling me about the CLIMATE.

Why would I listen to anyone else on this matter? They do this FOR A LIVING.

If you were watering your crops with milk and 97% of farmers told you that water works better, would you say they're lying and "I'm not appealing to any authority on this matter! I know milk is the best for growing crops! Lol what do farmers know about farming? They're always wrong! I'm definitely skeptical about using water for my tomatoes."

See how silly you look when I use another profession?

What is the proof that it is man made?

From a quick goole search the "proof" is that CO2 and other gases have heat trapping properties.
That's the proof? Strong...

Just checked and I'm not currently living on a glacier, so yeah, I believe.

I just don't think it'll be bad for me. It'll probably be bad for other people, far away. Too bad for them.

Question I ask very clearly do you wanna end up like china, climate change is real, factories pumping out toxic smog is real, just cause you don't live in it yet doesn't mean it cannot happen if unregulated like china

The only reason people deny climate change is cause some politician who is in bed with smog creation factories don't want hurt the subisidies they are getting from your tax dollar. If the factory doesn't get subisidies the politician doesn't get his bribery pay off. So he has to put on a suit and tie and tell a bunch of americans climate change is not real.

It is very apparent that something is happening to the climate there is no reason to ignore the warning signs and continue to mass pollute and create smog. The correct decision is to move towards clean energy, less need to be in bed with oil countries and fight wars over oil.

Clean energy is the correct path, I can understand why billionaires in the oil and pollution industry would try to sway people to there side they don't want to lose power to cheaper clean energy. If we have clean energy generated by solar the american people are no longer slaves to energy bills and paying for gas, the bilionaires lose power. while the people gain power. So I can see why they want to make you believe climate change is not real. Even though clean energy would actually empower you the people.
I just want to share the knowledge I have obtained throughout my life and hopefully change someone's life.
