The 97% was debunked in this thread like 6 times.

You don't understand the science. You've admitted this. If you don't understand the "evidence", it's the same thing as not having any evidence. You have literally no reason to believe in climate change, especially when the image I just posted proves that the ice caps are not melting. Why are you pushing this so hard? Oh that's right, you're a big government-loving authoritarian who has already come out and admitted that we need to "tax people to force them to comply". Just admit you just want to tax people. You want bigger government, and more bull**** social programs, and the best way to get there is to invent faux science nonsense about climate change (next it'll be something equally banal, but right now climate change is the buzzword of the decade) to strip some more $$ out of people. Quit pretending liberals care about other people, or the environment, and just admit you want money. At least be honest about it.. you've all but done it already.

I'm a far right conservative and I'm against these taxes and regulations because I dont care what happens to earth after I'm dead.

But that doesn't mean the impact of our actions is a hoax or that there is some massive conspiracy that 97% of the science community agrees with. that is absolutely ridiculous.

I dont understand the science enough to educate you on it, but I do get the basic evidence and it makes sense to me.

Your problem is that you can't seperate the need for taxes and regulations from the science. They are toally seperate things.

The scientists are telling people that we are fuked, and the politicians that care are trying to get people to change so future generations arent fuked. Not sure why you cant grasp that, its so obvious

Here's what's obvious:

You adhere to this **** like religious dogma. You don't even understand the topic, but you're just "so sure it's true" because your big daddy gubmint told you so, and they NEVER lie about anything to push an agenda (oh wait, they just spent an entire election cycle lying about literally everything). You're a religious zealot and you don't even know it.

You are right I dont understand everything, so here are my options

A) Believe 97% of the science community as well as other activists and politicians with nothing to gain, and evidence that makes sense to me

B) Believe 3% of the science community that are very often in cahoots with oil and fossil fuel companies and conspiracy theorists with everything to lose, and evidence that makes no sense to me.

If climate change was not real their profession (and a huge part of their identity) would cease to exist.

There probably is some man made climate change, but my annoyance is with the holier than thou attitude of these leftie douchebags. They are doing the exact opposite of "science" - they start with the conclusion and then find evidence to support that conclusion. Remember when it used to be "global warming"? There is no evidence to back that up now, so it has conveniently been relabeled as "climate change".

The human mind is subject to too many biases - confirmation bias, narrative fallacy to name a few. These "scientists" do not know the secrets of the universe.

For example, how long have we been studying climate change accurately - 100 years, 1000 years to be very generous maybe? How long has the universe existed - 6 billion years. It is an unfathomably small amount of time to be studying the environment,

Second, if climate change is real, what is the human race going to do about it? Australia have been patting themselves on the back for reducing emissions by 10% or whatever, meanwhile China emits 1000x times more than Australia does. ONE THOUSAND TIMES. The human race will not band together and sort this out because we are self-interested, that is a condition of human nature. Profits will come before the environment, national interest will come before the environment.

Buying a Prius and turning off your lights for Earth hour makes fuk all difference, the only way humans will have an effect on the environment is to reverse the industrial revolution and go back to living in caves. People do not want to do this though, they would rather look like they're doing something while keeping all their creature comforts.

The implicit assumption underlying all of this talk is that humans have existed, and will exist, on planet Earth for infinity. I don't think this is the case. Humans will come and humans will go, the universe won't really care. There is an argument to be made that humans act like a parasite on Earth - taking all its' natural resources and then dying out when the host has no more resources left. I think this is more plausible than humans living forever on planet Earth holding hands and driving their Prius around.

Cliffs:
- massive rant
- greenies have their heads up their own arse.
They're called "climate scientists," not "climate change scientists," you ignorant twat.

The earth will always have a climate. Herp derp.

The 97% figure has NOT been debunked at all in this thread. The only person who posted a bullchit source about that figure was adnim, and his source was complete nonsense that just made up a consensus figure.

You have no idea where that 97% came from, do you? It's clear that you don't. Go back to Infowars and Breitbart. Lol. You know, the REAL news outlets that say climate change isn't real.

I believe in climate change, but I also believe it is the primary reason for the human race THRIVING in an exponential J-curve population GAIN.

humans have always thrived in warming phases of climate, and been devastated during cooling phases. Presently, we have accidentally spurred a warming phase with the burning of fossil fuels. there's no question that warmer weather globally causes humanity to THRIVE.

so yeah, it's real, and we should embrace it.

And yet you spent a good portion of the thread talking about how the Government needs to tax people to "force them to comply" with this highly debated "science". Sounds pretty much the opposite of a conservative position to me.

How does the evidence make sense to you if you don't even understand it, as you've openly admitted to multiple times? 97% of who? 97% of the Scientists they chose to ask?

Here's a quote from one of those "97% are in consensus" sites:
Concensus only has meaning if there is no pressure to conform in either direction. In the climate debate this is extremely far from being true. How far could we reasonably expect a questioner to go in an IPCC panel when that instantly collects a denialist label and probably guarantees a dead end to even the most able career? In the current climate it is reasonable to assume the dissent camp is at least ten times the admitted size. I know that as an admittedly uninformed questioner I get some pretty vitriolic responses from the eco faithful.
In other words, given what we know about the pressure to conform to liberal narratives, how many scientists ACTUALLY agree with the "science"? How many are just shutting up so they can keep their jobs? It's not like liberals ever go after people they don't agree with and try to cost them their livelihoods. Oh wait, it's exactly like that. Hell, they're putting laws in place in New York so if you don't use some crazy person's preferred gender pronouns, they can fine you. Sound familiar? Deny climate change & get fined. Fine them into compliance. Those were your words I believe (Mr. "Conservative", lol).

Point to some evidence that the 3% who openly disagree with the science are somehow linked to big oil/fuel companies.

I didnt say I agreed with them doing that you nitwit, I was just stating the obvious motive. They think the planet is about to be destroyed if we dont change, so they are trying to get people to make the right choices with taxes and financial incentives. If you do the right thing like switch away from carbon, you wont be taxed you will be rewarded

Here's a quote from one of those "97% are in consensus" sites:

In other words, given what we know about the pressure to conform to liberal narratives, how many scientists ACTUALLY agree with the "science"? How many are just shutting up so they can keep their jobs? It's not like liberals ever go after people they don't agree with and try to cost them their livelihoods. Oh wait, it's exactly like that. Hell, they're putting laws in place in New York so if you don't use some crazy person's preferred gender pronouns, they can fine you. Sound familiar? Deny climate change & get fined. Fine them into compliance. Those were your words I believe (Mr. "Conservative", lol).
You have no evidence that these people are lying. The burden is on you to prove they are lying and you cant because the science is sound.

I'm sure all of those people who work in the coal industry will feel "rewarded" when their jobs are gone thanks to this nonsense.

Actually the onus is on the people bringing forth the data to prove it's true. Proving a negative is impossible, which is why you can never disprove God either: You can't prove a negative. You have no evidence they're telling the truth, and you have no way to validate that the "science is sound" because you don't even understand the science in the 1st place.

1. 97% agrees with what exactly? What statement? That if I pee in the ocean I am affecting the ocean?

WHAT EXACTLY DO 97% AGREE ON???? WHAT IS THE EXACT THESIS?

Because
-97% agree we are destroying the earth
is different than
-97% agree we have some effect on the earth on some level weather consequential or not.

Do 97% of scientists agree that we have at least a .0000000000001 effect on SOMETHING. Well yeah, but thats meaningless.

2. As for the second bolded part this isn't a fuking movie plot. This is what people mean when they say you think with your emotions like a ho, not logic or sound reasoning.

You know how I know you have a generic brand of brain?

You have no idea where that 97% came from, do you? It's clear that you don't. Go back to Infowars and Breitbart. Lol. You know, the REAL news outlets that say climate change isn't real.
Do you???
