What is the best all around dog breed?

I have had a couple dogs and they have all been rescues but I think maybe for the first time in my life I am considering this.

Like holy fuk, is there a more cute pup than a husky? and they're smart as hell.

That's coincidental. My last dog was a black lab, and the dog before that was mostly golden retriever. (Golden retriever was the smartest dog I've seen). The black lab made me laugh on a daily basis. Overall both of them were excellent companions.

Greater Swiss Mountain dog is my fav.

Smart, Strong, Protective, yet Gentle.

CONS:
Large and prone to joint problems. Must exercise and work daily. They like to pull.
I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.
Thank you, LORD, my God.

Never met an overtly aggressive shep, but they are prone to hip issues due to extreme breeding for shape

Goldens or Labs make the best companion dogs.

Our two yellow labs are 11 and 12. Very sad seeing age taking its toll on them. :-(

Those can be some big dogs. I'm sure they're a great breed, but a little too big for my condo.

English Black lab owner here. If you get a lab, make sure they're from English stock and not American if you want a house pet.

I love my dog more than 99% of the people I know.

Growing up I had a german shepherd and a pit bull. I had a english bulldog when i got my own house. The english bulldog was far the better companion. He was truly a friend, the german shepherd really attached to my mom for some reason.
