Bought a ring a month ago for $3.6k (GF of 5+ years, haven't proposed yet tho), matching band will be $500-1000. First I had bought a ring from Jared, and when I got it in the mail, the main diamond piece was already broken. Returned that garbage, super low quality diamond probably not even get 1/5th back if I was to pawn it. Got home, did some diamond research, bought the current ring off of blue nile, top color (D - colorless), top cut (Ideal), .64 carat (.5 looked really small compared to 1, the size I got was the perfect in between size for the price), great clarity (VVS2). If I was to pawn this ring I might get the same amount spent or even profit lol

Current fianc told me she wanted a Morganite stone with diamond accents (much cheaper) than a full center diamond stone. Ended up getting her a ring she absolutely adores for 1K. She did not want me spending a ton of money on a ring when we could use it for other things. No materialism at all in her, hence me wife-ing her up.

As for a nice ring. There is a difference between EXPECTING and Liking/appreciating something. My wife didn't expect it, but she likes it. She doesn't wear it daily, doesn't wear makeup daily, etc. only wears it when we go out to dinner, events, special occasions etc.

$10k or so seems fine to me and isn't even a month's gross pay. Might even push to $15-18k and get a ~2ct so no need to upgrade later. Yes, it seems like a ridiculous amount for a time of little to no utility. But at least it is likely to maintain or even increase in value. Could buy her a entry level POS 3 series at $30k and in 3-4 years it's probably worth $15k. In 10 years maybe $5k. That ring though will probably be at least worth what you paid for it.
Some fairly embittered and poisoned people here. I'm not advocating putting yourself into financial ruin or harm but if you can buy your loved one something precious and valued then why not?

Lmfao. The more money you have, the more you should spend on a prenup - NOT a ring.
It's like a double bonus to put the extra cash toward the prenup for that inevitable divorce.
Welcome to the 21st century, btw.

You can get a good looking ring at Walmart for under 1k. If you don't tell her she will never know.
Spent 600 on the ring. 300 for the band. Coming up on our 10 year and I might get a slightly nicer band on the other side.

Found a beautiful 2.5karat ring that was originally $3800 on clearance for $1300 with lifetime warranty which we already had to use because one of the diamonds cracked..

25 cents
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

I took a bunch of my old jewelry that I hadn't worn in years and had it melted down into a wedding band. They took a small diamond from one of my pieces and put it in the center of my band.
Didn't cost us a penny.

LMAO at spending so much in a wedding ring.
Would rather that money for a car or a house.
I'm sure she never asked for something that fancy : He's just a cuck seeking mommy's validation.

Would gladly spend $10k or more on a wedding ring for my wife.
In about 10 years that'll be less than a month salary anyway.
I'm a hopeless romantic anyway, and think marriage is for life, just lol.
Would never wife a girl who demanded an expensive ring though.
If my girl said 'I'd be okay with "cheap ring" or "this (cheap) stone" etc. i would buy her an expensive ass ring anyway, because I can afford it. She can return it and get whatever, but 99% of girls say they're okay with cheap rings say it because they're sensible and know you cannot realistically afford an expensive ring (there's nothing wrong with that by the way).

When my hubby and I started talking about engagement (almost ten years ago now...holy crap time flies) and he was picking my brain for ring ideas, I gave him only two requests: a conflict free diamond, and I didn't want a "cookie cutter" ring from any of the chain stores (Zales, Peoples, Kay, Jareds etc)...didn't want a child in Africa dying for my jewelry and didn't want the same ring every other bish has. Size of diamond didn't matter, cost didn't matter....just wanted something ethical and that he put thought into.
He ended up spending 5k....and the ring is beautiful. I still catch myself staring at it and feeling all mushy inside...of course our marriage is even more beautiful so thats probably why. I think the key with engagement rings, is to ask yourself what you can afford, and buy the best quality ring that your budget allows. If you're CEO 10k/day, then obviously go wild, but for those who make an average income...don't stress about spending a ton. Just make sure you know her tastes, and buy something that isn't going to break or turn her finger green and you're good to go. If she's a quality woman, she'll appreciate whatever you get her.

500 bucks probably. Doesn't matter if my income is CEO 10k/day.
Not a materialistic person and I don't plan on marrying one. Personally won't be spending money on a wedding either. My parents got married in our house with like 10 people that's how it should be, not full of 100s of people I don't give a Fock about.
