Browsing real estate prices... not gonna make it

Going to just be single forever and rent cheap apartments and put all my money into securities.

Realized I cannot ever afford a home. Not talking about a mansion or anything either I mean an average fuking subdivision home LOL ... how could you ever settle down if you cannot even afford a fuking subdivision house ... like a two story subdivision is pretty standard


1.5 million dollars for this place just LOL

The average Canadian income is 50k

I take home about 4K a month and I wouldn't even be able to afford the mortgage on this POS standard subdivision house... I'd need to make over 300k just to be able to afford this place and then live pay cheque to pay cheque never mind affording to raise a family lol


All the GTA (greater Toronto area) is like this but the gta is where all of our jobs are so we're truly fuked lol srs

You'd need to move like 2 -3 hours north to get this place at 600k and even that's too much on 70k

This place goes for 1.5 million LOL

The days where you can buy an affordable detached house are long gone and they're never coming back. Especially in a growing city like Toronto.

The future is condos and townhouses. If you get lucky, your estate will appreciate and you can sell it off and upgrade to a detached house.

Also if you have a wife the double income can really help.

Man I grew up in the gta and it's an average subdivision house like all my friends, family everyone I know grew up in a house like that ... my dads house is similar and when he bought it 15 yrs ago in Toronto he paid less than a million

Good luck getting in the market now lol you're about 8 years too late. You'll have to settle on a tiny condo with huge fees or think outside of the box like me.

My US to peasant conversions might need to be checked but that adds up to about 1,100 sq ft. LOL, at average mid to high level construction of $200/sq ft that house cost 220k to build. You're looking at a 1 million dollar micro lot. Fuk that

My step dad can build a house for 400k land and building mortgage included like an hour north of Toronto ... I think we're gonna go halves on a building mortgage and split the house ... I'll just commute to Toronto using the go train

Ive built them before it's all show ... just a typical 2 by 6 exterior 2 by 4 interior wall framed up house ... probably one of 5-10 models in the subdivision ... nothing unique about the house

Have to get away from cities where there's large foreign investment.

This isn't a problem unique to Toronto, or even Canada for that matter.

Had to move away from San Francisco for the same problem.

A combination of worldwide low interest rates and foreign investors is driving house prices in major cities around the world through the roof.

Moved to a city off their radar and was able to get a house 200 feet from the water, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths. This house would have cost $3 million+ in SF. Cost me a tenth of that.
