NYC is f***ing crazy

Homeless people basically stalking you for a dollar, crazy people yelling all over the streets while the cops literally stand there and ignore them.

Not having a good time here.

lol where you from? I like NYC but you're right about the homeless people. They're like supped up versions of the homeless in other cities. Always blows my mind about the height of the buildings. (I'm in DC where you can't build buildings very tall).

San Francisco. San Fran has less to do than NY, so I think it's worse.

Last time we stopped by, a homeless man was puking all over the sidewalk as we were leaving the theater (Christmas play). 10 minutes later, another homeless man ran up out of nowhere and knocked on my window when I stopped at a red light. Yelled through my window for some money. Didn't appreciate either of those incidents.

Everything west of NYC is gorgeous and I would be 110% okay living in upstate New York, but the city can go fuark itself with all the used needles in Central Park.

I live on Long Island. There are nice parts in the city, but you're always gonna have some dude harassing you for change/yelling some chit for who-knows-why.

Grew up an hour from NYC. Never saw the appeal, it's a chit show. Constant begging especially at Grand Central and Penn stations, and people actually get upset at you if you don't give them money.

One time this woman approached my girl while she was on a fukking phone call to interrupt and beg. So I got between them and said we don't have anything, sorry. Then she went on about why I got in between them, and I said well clearly you noticed she was on the phone and you attempted to interrupt her to beg for fukking money, get lost. Then she walked away mumbling some typical nonsense.

Also everywhere you go there's someone who belongs in a psych ward, yelling random chit at nobody while you're trying to eat or get coffee.

The city would be a nice place if it weren't predominantly those types, and if it wasn't so damned dirty.

For the record I've never been to a major city on the west coast, but I have been to Osaka, Tokyo, Stockholm and Tallinn (estonia). All four were much nicer with classier people than NYC as a whole, and out of those 4, Osaka and Tokyo were amazing and immaculate, Tallinn was very nice and different, and Stockholm was nice albeit people were a bit lacking in manners.

Oh right also Athens, which was historically very nice but the people had the least manners and seemed more stuck up than the previous four, would still very much recommend though.

Been there twice. Wasn't a huge fan although I was just a kid and couldn't appreciate it at the time. I do remember it smelling like CHIT!

They're all kind of the same.

Pros:
Fuarking amazing touristy downtowns that shock and awe.
Good restaurants
Feeling of energy all around you

Cons:
Everything that isn't downtown

You can literally buy anything and eat anything you want at any time.

In addition, there's cultural stuff from around the world everywhere. So, everything is there and it's the best place in the world.

You have to seek that stuff out when you go there, not just wander around.

so much this. living in NJ and being so close to NYC is the best of both worlds for me - literally always something to do any time. i don't think i could live there as i wouldnt want to spend all of my time in NYC, but i wouldnt ever want to stray too far away from it i don't think

I live in NYC now because of work, but I much preferred living in NJ (better quality of life) while being a train ride away from the city.

I live upstate. It's beautiful, but it's a lot of sad underemployed dudes on heroin and fat chicks blaming everyone else for their lives. Was a hub of Sanders supporters. Most housing is delapidated and there isn't much going on, although the nightlife has started to modernize a little in some towns. Taxes are totally disproportionate. Not something I'd recommend.

OP, I've seen a couple of crazy homeless people in my day, but you must be in a chit neighborhood. I've never seen anything seriously problematic in Manhattan, low crime, and the cops are usually on-point. Downstate is the only part of the state that functions most of the time.
