Californian here, six figure plus salary, 401k, benefits, soon-to-be eligible for pension, living in poverty in the bay area.
Other states-ians, what's it like to have money? What's dat dere disposable income like?
What's it like to be able to go out on a date every weekend?
What's it like to own a home with a front, and back yard?
What's it like to be in an area with a good education system and safe neighborhoods, in case I want to wed a sloot and spawn humans?
What's it like to do fun stuff on the weekend, not living check-to-check, or cheque to cheque, for you Brit cats?
Aware me on these feels misc.

Maybe you suck at saving money.
Do you smoke, drink at bars and insist on having a new car?
Do you smoke, drink at bars and insist on having a new car?
You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told you're a god or a total bastard. The iron always kicks you the real deal. It's the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. I have found it to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But 200 pounds is always 200 pounds.

Californian here. Yes, cost of living is more, but so are our salaries. If you buy online, you're buying chit for the same price people who make half of what we make (on average) are paying. It all evens out. They pay less for property/rent/etc, we in turn receive more $$ and spend more on property/rent/etc. This is why a lot of people move out of the state to retire after working their whole lives in CA, or move mid career after they have a ton in savings.

How are you living though? You gotta have a nice place (big rent expense) if you make six figures but are broke, no?
Your schtick sucks and it screams insecurity.

I pay 2k for a 1 bedroom and that's a BARGAIN. North Bay. In the city this same pad would be 3500 easy, more depending on the area.

I pay 2k for a 2bedroom in Huntington Beach. It's luxurious, brand new, lots of amenities, no utilities unless I go over $200/month. I've looked at similar places in other states and it's around $1k. The salary for my job in said places are about 60-65% of the CA salaries. While not completely evening out, it's close.

Nvm you answered. Your doing it wrong. I pay 1.8 for 600 sqft in La Jolla. Barely making 6 figures and I live comfortably. What you spending on food? How often you going out/ordering in?

If you are terrible with finances it probably won't feel any different just more debt.

I swear you Cali *******s are fkin retarded with money. I make $70k in Chicago and can easily save $1k/month in addition to my 401k match. If you make six figures you make at least $30k more than I do. Even if your rent is $1k more per month and food is more expensive you should still be able to save as much as I do if not more.

yeah, it's pretty awesome to have disposable income...which you do have except you're disposing it all in california. at 6 figures, you're living real low key baller in most other places in the country.

Opie is a ****ing idiot. He pays over 2k a month for a ****ty apartment and wonders why he's broke.
I rent a room in 3 bedroom bachelor pad in Long Beach for $500 a month. I commute an hour into the city for work and come home to my cheap apartment. People who make lots of money and complain about not being able to save always have stupid ****ing living arrangements. No **** if you decide to get your own apartment in an expensive part of the city you won't be able to afford it.
If you wanna save money then learn to live frugally. If you're going to live at the limits of your means don't act upset when you're perpetually broke.
Get a roommate, get a cheaper place, move to a less "hip" and more cheap city or burb. I have no pity for people who have an expensive living arrangement when they could humble themselves.
