For the 100th time, yes. What defines a dog as a "pitbull" is subjective in these stats. Many other breeds and even mixes with some pitbull in them all get lumped under that category. The combination portion is severely underrepresented. If you ask a person what kind of dog attacked you, they're more inclined to say "I think it was a pitbull" because that's what society/the media is telling you to say. In reality, they have no clue

How come when I do a simple dog attack search on YouTube I get 90% pitbulls, mostly attacking other dogs? Is YouTube also biased, or are the viewers biased and pushing these vids to the top?

Chart require interpretation. Which could mean many things depending on how they're read.
You went from pitbulls, to other breeds, and finally any kind of threatening animals in general.

There's your strawman.
Actually the strawman is the over analyzing. Fact: ALL DOG BITE. Pit bulls are merely stronger and more tenacious fighters. The result being their attacks cause a lot more damage. Themeanestdogs I know of are chihuahuas. But chihuahuas can't knock you down and rip your throat out.

For the people advocating so hard for Pitbulls, why a Pitbull? Like why is it necessary for you to get a Pitbull specifically over a german shepherd or something?

Or a Pekingese, or a Shih Tzu, or a Pomeranian? A Dachshund? Or a Beagle, or a Basset Hound, or a Pug? A Jack Russell Terrier? Or a Lab? A bulldog? A Yorkie? A Poodle? A Golden Retriver? Or a Boxer?

We shouldn't outlaw pitbulls but make pitbulls owners criminally liable when their chitdogs maul others so at least we'll get them ghetto trashy scums off the street.

Just like humans dogs can be ugly or good looking. Pitbulls are unquestionably an ugly dog and that includes dogs that can be mistaken as pitbulls

They are not cute or handsome and are more prone to violence

Where is the appeal? I think people are drawn to them for their reputation as ugly violent losers whom no one likes so owners want to 'save' them and show them love. The other reason is simply wanting an aggressive dog.

the majority of dog breeds are capable and willing to kill a child in the right circumstances. I've been attacked by dogs 5-6 times in my life. 4-5 of those times were german shephards. the other time was an Akita. I don't want, nor do I care to have either of those breeds banned. I blame the owners.

If you want to own a potentially dangerous breed of dog you should need a permit. And be held responsible if they injure someone.

I've grown up around Pitbulls and German Shepherds, so for me the only dog breeds I would own are one of those two.

That being said, I would never trust a Pit or Shepherd around a small child, as it's pretty clear how powerful and temperamental they can be.

I'd argue that probably 80% or more of dog-related attacks could be prevented if the owner took proper precautions though. Our current German Shepherd is about 150lbs and can get extremely aggressive if he feels that someone is endangering my mom. For that reason, we keep him away from children and other dogs. Problem solved.

Also it's still strange for me to see so many Pitbull attacks when Shepherds seem much more capable. I wonder if it's just a per capita issue like DJ said.

I know one time a neighbor's pitbull wandered into our yard and Thor (our shepherd) got a hold of it by the neck and it was game over. Dog would've been dead if I hadn't called him off.

something that I've personally witnessed and never understood is that everyone I know who owns a pitbull (whether its someone I know or is a friend of a friend) is a social degenerate or involved in illegal chit. i know its anecdotal, but its weird how these groups of people love pitbulls

Not sure how you don't see the reasoning.

If you're into illegal or degenerate stuff, your reputation probably has a lot to do with it. If you need to command respect or fear, is this going to do the trick?

Issue is with the owners and the pit. Pits are a loaded handgun, and 99.99% of pit owners are using their dog as massive cope for their insecurities. They say you need to be firm, its a sweetheart, etc. but of course it bites someone when you least expect it. Of course you say its never done that before, because if it has, it wouldn't even be around. Morons refuse the accept that pits are a very skittish breed, prone to act "out of character" when you least expect it to. Morons don't treat it with the caution and respect that they should, then you get this kind of issue.

Get over yourselves, walking your chit-tier dog, and disciplining it is not enough in the case of pits. Keeping it away from animals and people, and having an eye on it all the time is the only way to be safe. All dogs act out of character once in a while, but a bite from a schnauzer is different from a bite from a goldie, which is completely different from the bite of a vicious pit

Most people put emotion above logic. Sure, the animal cares about you. But if you startle it and it feels threatened? It could shred you up real quick. I've had that dog for nearly 10 years. Only got seriously bitten ONCE - and it was like two weeks ago. He was sleeping, had eaten a pillow. Went to collect the pillow stuffing and he must have felt threatened. Jumped up and latched on my forearm, got three good bites in. After the fact he looked like he was having a heart attack for 3 hours, looked guilty as fuk, I almost felt bad for him. He got me pretty good though, tough dog.

I would also argue owning cats can be just as dangerous - Toxoplasma gondii parasite is pretty creepy sh!t.

It is simple, really. There will ALWAYS be bad dog owners out there, because there will always be stupid people out there. Since there will always be bad owners, therefore there will always be a risk of dogs attacking innocent people including defenselss toddlers.

Since we cant ban idiots, we have to look at different options. Banning the most dangerous breeds seems like the next best thing. A potential dog owner who wants to get a Pitbull becomes a risk for everybody. A potential dog owner who CANT get a pitbull, and has to go for a lesser dangerous breed, becomes less of a danger.

Bad owners are spoiling it for everyone, but that is really the only way to stop or minimize little toddlers getting their faces bitten off. At the end of the day we can argue all we want about whose fault it was, the owners, the dogs, the breeders, etc, but fact of the matter is that for sure it wasnt the toddlers faullt, and he shouldnt give a fuk whose fault it is either.. What we can all say for sure is that the toddler wouldnt have been in near as much danger if he had been in front of a Labrador instead, or a more chill breed.

There will always be bad owners in the world, and as long as we keep blaming every dog attack on them, toddlers will keep getting attacked. If we ban pitbulls, less kids will be attacked and that is a statistical fact. Whose fault it was that pitbulls were banned? Who gives a ****, the important thing is that now kids are safer.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

dude this argument is fuking garbage, any animal that you have to tell someone not to put with a child is an animal that does not EVER belong in someones house or around people.

Are you honestly not seeing this correlation?

what other animals would you say to not have around a child? I guarantee almost all or all of them should NEVER be kept a domesticated "pet"
