Married at 21

Divorced at 22 (Dated since freshman year of high school, he cheated for a long time and continued to cheat while married. I Didn't find out till after we were married)

Married again at 24

25 next weekend

Still Married

Very Happy

First marriage was doomed to fail from the beginning even if he hadn't cheated. A very large portion of our relationship was long distance due to school and the military so we had never experienced living together or spending long periods of time together. It was a horrible decision, we were both so young (still am), but the cheating/double life he was leading certainly didn't help. Second marriage is 100% better and we have a beautiful daughter that just turned 1. He is my best friend and the sex is still amazing.

Married at 27

Now 33

Still married

Very, very happy

We married because we're old fashioned and that's what we both wanted to do. If we happened to not be, and decided to not inform the government of our intent to fuk on a regular basis, it wouldn't change our relationship one bit. If you don't both agree on this matter though, your relationship is probably dead in the water. And if one or both of you is refusing to marry so you can split at a moment's notice, you were never going to have a viable relationship anyway, with or without marriage.

So basically it changes nothing. It's mostly just an announcement to other people and has very little to do with the actual relationship. The divorce rate is high because people have expectations that marriage is going to change something, and then it doesn't. If you want something to change, you should not be getting married. The classic story is that the woman instantly turns into a nagging bithc and attempts to form the husband to her 12yo vision of prince charming once he's in the trap. Happens a lot, but there's other variations and men have expectations that don't get met either.

Every single person in my family for at least 3 generations is divorced. That includes several dozen aunts, uncles, and cousins. They're all idiots and probably not capable of fostering a functional relationship. But this used to make me think it was SUCH a big deal to pick the right person and the stakes were so freaking high. (Then of course I fall in love with the first psyco to throw any poosy my way, as any young man would do. Lucky af she wasn't willing to marry me.) However, now being in a real relationship, I'm not afraid of divorce at all. I'd much rather have the last few years with my wife than none at all. Feelings would be hurt if we split, but we wouldn't hate each other. Not to say you should just marry anyone with no thought, but a good thing is a good thing and you should be able to enjoy it without fear that it's going to end or that you missed out on a better thing.

Most people get married and find out they do not really enjoy hanging out with that person.

My advice to everyone is do not get married unless you have no problem spending most of your time with them. If you can do that then I believe it is one of the best choices in life you can make. Also, in a good marriage you will have sex, but that is not what marriage is about

Are you still married? Yes

Are you happy? Very

Why did you marry? Dating a great girl for a while that I knew would make a great mother. Still remember very clearly, I never wanted to get married then one night I had an epiphany that I needed to marry this girl.

Why do you think marrying was a good move?
I wouldn't trade my life with anyone I know and it's because of the decisions being married and planning to have kids forced me to make. As single guy I had a job I hated and would never be concerned about a house in one of the nicest areas in America, saving for a rainy day, delaying gratification, minimizing debt, protecting my family, and planning for the future. All that planning has given me the freedom to live a near stress free life. Now I have a flexible career that I enjoy not ceo10k/day, coach my sons soccer team (not old enough to play cool sports soon.gif), have a perfect daughter that loves to chill with me inb4 daughters.gif, love my wife more deeply for such great kids / life, play catch / kick soccer ball regularly, do corny family stuff like apple picking and raking leaves, wife cooks awesome dinners (yeah you mirin), get a lot of love from family, have awesome neighbors, parents finally told me they were proud of me feels.gif, wake up in a nice home...

If I didn't get married I'd have nothing-I'd still live in a chitty apartment and blowing ALL of my money on stupid chit and going out 4 nights a week.

Got married at age 25
Are you still married?
Nope, got separated 5 months after wedding, divorced the following year
Are you happy?
Very, i am in the best shape of my life, making way more money now, smashed a lot of sloots, with GF now
Why did you marry?
Im not sure, the old "it seemed like a good idea at the time" i also really loved her
Why do you think marrying was a good move?
Not even a little. It was really dumb for me to rush into a marriage, let alone move the wedding date so that her grandma could be there because she was scared the grandma would die before seeing her get married.

Why did you marry?

Weve been together since we were 15. High school sweethearts and best friends.

Why do you think marrying was a good move?
We had already bought a home , it was the next logical step and I didn't want to have a child with a different surname to my partner.
so you took your GF last name? and ur kid has ur gf surname too? lol ****kin cuuk

married when i was 28; i'm 38

yes

i'm neutral tbh. happy to be with her but would be the same if she left. all i care about are the kids

i thought i was in love and felt like it was the right thing to do. looking back, i should have stayed single; i'd be a lot happier and have less responsibilities.

it wasnt a good move. i thought it was the thing to do because it is a society norm and i felt she was a keeper. i'm older and wiser now. looking back, i dont think i would have gotten married

Mostly, had some really tough times but some really good ones too. We bang every day (literally, always have) and have a good relationship but there are times that we get tired of each other and wonder if we should stay together. Def times I wonder what all I am/have missed out on. At this point in our lives, the kids play a huge part in keeping us together bc we want them to grow up in a stable, loving home.

Why did you marry?
Bc I knocked her when we were 17 (had been dating for 2 yrs). We "loved" each other (don't know that we trulyunderstood that concept yet) and family pressure to "do the right thing." I had seen some of my siblings (9 bros and sisters) raise their kids alone and the aftermath was always a screwed up kid that had problems making it through school. I can't punish my kids for my poor decisions.

Why do you think marrying was a good move?
At the time I really wanted to marry her and was super happy. But there's no way I would have done it again. We've always had a child from the onset of our marriage so life has always been hard. I immediately finished up HS, gave up D1 tennis scholarships and got a job. Took us forever to both get degrees and decent jobs, etc, etc, etc. This put a huge strain on our relationship along with the difficulties of maturing very quickly when a kid is suddenly in the mix. Now we have 3, our 15yo and 7yo twins, all girls and daily life is really a trip....
If you read all that, my advice is to never stop talking every day, holding hands, kissing daily and randomly, grabbing her ass or running your fingers across her back, etc. I have noticed that as those gestures slowly decrease and stop, there is a subconscious effect on the relationship. Especially when you stop doing it in public. It's like a sub-con queue that you no longer claim each other or are ashamed to be with them. Obviously you don't have to be all over her all the time, but both parties should be making an effort to do these things. It sounds crazy but that has made the biggest difference when we were having problems. Went back to basics and was surprised how much some random kissing, hand holding, random massages, etc. helped our relationship.

You want to know what's worse than a feminist? A man trying to bring other men down, for absolutely no reason at all. There are guys in this thread in good , healthy marriages, and others that have failed, just like any other experience in life.

From what I see mostly the older guys are in healthy marriages. For the younger dudes it's not worth it because most younger women ain't worth it.

That's all cool, there may be a shift, I don't know. The part that gets me is when guys come in here with the sole purpose of throwing shade. Men used to inspire each other, respect each other, support one another, and around here it's just a bunch of dudes projecting their own insecurity.

Truth. literally anything about marriage now gets shot down by just random guys. If someone is happy with something then good for them. Its not your job to try to show them "evidence" of why they shouldn't be.

Women also have a lot of growing up to do, srs. I know women tend to be more mature then guys when we're growing up but that doesn't mean they change a lot as they get older.

Don't discount people your age, you're still mid twenties and things will look different for ALL of you when you're a bit older. Whether that means you choose to get married, or not. Keep your head up player.

I remember when I told my next door neighbor I was getting married. He shook my hand and said "now you're a man.". It was traditionally a rite of passage, and I respected him so much more for doing that. Now you have guys writing your obituary the second you "kiss the bride".

Men drive tradition, and when you have a generation of men that don't want to be husbands, you'll have a corresponding generation of women that don't want to be wives.

Maybe we should stop pressuring each other to do things because "we're supposed to" because that's how people marry the wrong person and waste their money in college in the first place

wow crazy...my wife at the time pulled that same stunt on me about the grandma being able to see the wedding. Unfortunately, she did pass away a few months ago but the point still stands...I should not have let outside factors dictate when I marry..and I did...I rushed into the marriage after only dating for a year and a half.

This isn't just about marriage. It's about not trying to sweep the leg of every other happy person you encounter just to make yourself feel better. Which is what a lot of miscers do.

That's not what he said, you retard.
