If it "escalated" it wont be a "war". It would be nuclear holocaust. Everyone's aware of this fact. Nothing will happen.

I don't want a war over who has control of Syrias' natural resources, and this will be the dumbest thing that I ever say on the misc. But all the bloodshed over the years from US-Russia proxy wars (Vietnam, Korea etc) maybe it's a good thing if the US and Russia just slug it out now so the rest of the world can get on with things and not be subject to this constant war. Would save less bloodshed in the long run to just sort it out now.

We saw the complete inefficiency of over 50 tomahawk missiles on a Syrian air base (planes still taking off now, wtf) so no doubt the war will go atomic. Such a shame humans are dumb as fukk and can't get along.

President Trump's action was spot on in regard to the missile strike and supported by most of the World Governments that Assad's action was one step too much. You know, Obama did nothing, he sat on his hands as an academic always does. The UN did and does nothing, this too is an academic organisation that does a lot of thinking but has lost the simple art of action. Some people will never be satisfied with what President Trump has done and that is okay, I'm glad there are people out there that has a more balanced view.

I think that's what we're all saying but I'm not as optimistic that people will hold back from killing the vast majority of the human population (the elites will probably live and I'm sure they have serious contingencies for there survival). Issue is that once the pieces are in play and one of the players sees a checkmate (and they think quite a few a moves ahead)... there will almost certainly be a disaster. That's why the civilian populations need to make sure there governments are in check... because no elite family globally meaningfully cares about their survival based on history.

Everyone has been saying that Trump is in bed with the Russians and it is all a scandal.

I would imagine that a great way to make people stfu about Trump and the Russians would be for Trump to launch some missiles at Syria and for the Russians to say they will fuc up Trump if he does anything else.

Lol if you don't think they are going to become the best of friends.

Trump is the type of guy who would phone/contact Putin and say

Trump: "Everyone is talking chit about us, i'm gonna launch some missiles into Syria for a laugh and you pretend to get mad about it ok? Then once everything has settled down we will kick some Muslim ass and nobody will be any the wiser, by the way i know this restaurant that does a great steak you'll have to try it, see you soon M8"

Russia and Iran have to have this response. It's totally unsurprising. Just like if Assad uses chemical weapons again, the US has to do somthing severe like destroy all of his airfields. /shrug.

I think another good World War and draft will do alot of good for this generation. Will give all the millennials some life long character and turn them into men. Then we'd have stories to tell our children and not to mention it'd be great for the economy.

You think this will do good for this generation until you and your friends get drafted and some of you get killed, and most of you come back with some form of a mental disorder.

have not read thread but i dont think they will, trump will most likely back off until another chemical attack and then will be pressured to do something again, UN will now be pressured by US to do something. most likely all that putin means is they will install anti aircraft missile carriers and missiles to possibly shoot down a plane the next time this happens, because lettuce be cereal, assad is a barbarian and it will happen again.

not like putin is going to down planes that are wiping out isis in known isis terrority. at least i hope not.

you say that as if they'll willfully go to war. I guarantee if there is a draft they'll fill up the prison cells for refusing to go.

The thing is this - of the 59 Tomahawks lobbed at the airfield (which are not suitable for penetrating hardened installations in their standard configuration), none struck the runway or taxiway, or any anti-air defenses. In fact the salvo didn't damage any operable aircraft at all, giving a few decrepit Su-22s a light coating of dust. This is understandable seeing as both the Russians and the Syrians were warned well in advance of incoming fire.

Whatever else we'd lie to say about the various players in this particular dumpster fire, the attack recently launched was a laughable display of saber-rattling which achieved little and cost much, not least of which is the end of the co-operative measures between Russia and the US to de-escalate mid-air conflicts - as well, Russia has set aside an unofficial ban on proliferating area denial systems like the S300/400, which they are keen to sell and Assad is keen to buy. Most of Syria is already under area denial surveillance and the Russians have simply chosen not to lock on. They are not useful against stealthy aircraft but legacy aircraft would be wiped from the sky.

A bizarre and baffling move - either it was intended to barely disturb the topsoil while making Trump look warlike or it was a shockingly incompetent mission which failed every objective.

Wars aren't gonna be fought like you envision them ever again. Cyberwars will be the future, just imagine an entire countries internet gets wiped out including military connections. At that point it's game over, 100 armed men with rifles would get get decimated by an armored attack drone even and by now that sort of combat is archaic
